Happy Winter!

The snow has finally arrived. During the winter months is a good time to step back and take a look at your business and marketing plans for the New Year. Like any business or organization, the EDC is in the process of looking forward as well. An updated, five year strategic plan for Economic Development for the Town of Newtown is in the early stages of development. This new plan will address enhancements to the current plan and goals to move Newtown forward regarding economic development over the next five years.
Providing business resources to local businesses and entrepreneurs is one of the EDC's many objectives. We are happy to announce the EDC and CH Booth Library's enhanced relationship with CT's Small Business Development Center later in the newsletter. Education pertaining to community development with our boards and commissions is another EDC objective. Last month, the EDC hosted a workshop with Partnership for Strong Communities and CERC on housing trends in CT and how they reflect on Newtown.
Newtown and the Western Connecticut Economic Development Alliance (WCEDA) announced the launch of a new website, www.AccessWesternCT.com. Learn more about this exciting informational tool later in the newsletter.
Newtown continues to grow. The Hawleyville Business District sewer line extension is scheduled to break ground this spring. This new infrastructure will enhance Newtown's "Medical Mile" off exit 9 of I-84. Learn more about property opportunities in this area later in the newsletter as well. Newtown is on the move!
