Happy Holidays!

Newtown has so much to celebrate this holiday season. 2015 brought development, new business openings and opportunity within the Newtown community. The Hawelyville business district located off exit 9 of I-84, the home of Newtown's Medical Mile, was a primary development focus. The planned sewer line extension and addition of 56,000 sq ft of medical building space and services brought attraction to the area. Newtown's partnership with Maplewood Healthcare, LLC has helped put Newtown on the "medical map".
2015 also brought Newtown key zoning approvals for commercial and residential development. The Incentive housing development in Sandy Hook Village, The River Walk at Sandy Hook Village, will bring 65 residential units to the commercial village district. Manufacturer, Rand Whitney Container, received approvals for a large plant expansion and a Commercial Design District was approved at exit 10 of I-84, allowing drive-thrus at the exit. Newtown's gateway off exit 10 will see enhancements in 2016 with the Villages at Lexington retail development beginning to take shape and more to come.
Newtown moves into 2016 still "Open For Business". The EDC has a new and improved look to their website, www.newtown.org. It's still packed with valuable resources and information, check it out today.
