Greetings!

Betsy Paynter

Summer is here in Newtown. It's time to get outdoors and enjoy all that Newtown and our local businesses have to offer. Newtown is proud of their New England offerings of homemade ice cream, fresh fruits and vegetables, local meats for the BBQ, along with hiking trails and swimming locations. "Discover Newtown" today, learn more.

Newtown held their first Manufacturers meeting earlier this month. Many of our manufacturers attended such as Curtis Packaging, Architectural Glass, Tier One Manufacturing, M Cubed, O2 Concepts, TUV Rheinland and others. We had guest speakers from the state and federal governments to present their support programs offered for manufacturing companies in CT.

Newtown's development is in full swing. There's construction activity in most areas of town including Hawleyville, South Main Street, The Borough and Sandy Hook. You can learn more about these projects further in the newsletter.

Attention developers and not for profits! The State of Connecticut is releasing Brownfield clean up funding for your benefit. Learn more in the newsletter, deadline is June 30th. Interested parties should contact Liz or myself so we can help with your application.

164 Mount Pleasant Road, Newtown

Maplewood Healthcare, LLC broke ground on its new two-story, 26,000 sq ft medical office building last month. DaVita Inc., a national provider of dialysis treatments, will become the lead tenant in this project, taking approximately 38% of the buildings ground floor.  Due to the trend of hospitals moving many of their non-core businesses off-site and closer to the communities they serve, this location would be very suitable for a variety of medical and healthcare related uses due to convenience, quality/design and parking. New development is located next to a 170 unit age-restricted housing development and a 100 unit senior living community known as Maplewood at Newtown. Interested parties should contact Todd Payne at Goodfellow Ashmore, 203-744-7025 Ext. 1320 or Bob Cascella 203-744-7025 Ext. 1370. Get more information.
