Sera Beak

 "Soul Fire"

Having enjoyed much success in her life and career, Sera was faced with the realization that in following the path that she was on, she was denying the truth of her authentic feminine nature. Sera had the courage to turn away from her apparent success and begin the journey of self-realization and re-connecting with her soul. Sera will discuss her process, both wonderful and challenging and reveal to us some of the traps, some subtle and some not so subtle of living today in a world dominated by the old patriarchal systems. She will discuss one of the trickiest areas to navigate through which is the world of spirituality in the USA today and its shadow side. It takes real courage to step aside from fame and fortune and be okay to claim ourselves back while everyone else thinks we are nuts! Sera has done this!

 February 12th
Dave Markowitz

"Self-Care for the Self-Aware"

Dave Markowitz will discuss his latest book, "Self-Care for the Self-Aware". The needs of the self-aware are different. Many of us are overly empathic, and many are extra sensitive to certain foods, medicines, situations, and people. If you have physical or emotional ailments, are overweight, have allergies, or are inexplicably lethargic, unfocused, or feeling lost, there is a reason. Your energetic sensitivities likely have caused you to take on the pain, unhappiness, and other disease of the people around you. Self-Care for the Self-Aware provides a solution specifically tailored for you and your uncommon healing needs. If you've done way too many traditional, alternative, or complementary healing modalities and at best have only achieved temporary relief, Self-Care for the Self-Aware is for you. You'll learn a process specific to the self-aware to heal ourselves, so we can better serve others.

 Amit Goswami
"Quantum Creativity"

Amit Goswami will discuss his work and brand new book to be published on March 1st.  The main message of his book, Quantum Creativity is this: If you are interested in creativity and in thinking quantum, you have the basics of what it takes to be creative, in fact, to be extraordinary in your creativity.  Quantum physics is the physics of possibilities. Quantum physics says reality is both possibility and actuality.  The objects of the universe are possibilities, quantum possibilities; they become objects of actuality in our experience when we observe because we have chosen actuality from the possibilities proffered.  This two-level complementary reality is an important aspect of our consciousness. Creativity was difficult for people of the olden days because they had to pursue it blindly, they did not know how human creativity works; they assumed it is all mystery, all arts.  And today, lots of people shortchange their creativity because of their faulty mechanistic worldview.

February 26th
Robert Bauval
"Conspiracy in Rome"

Robert Bauval will discuss his latest book, The Vatican Heresy, co-authored with Chiara Hohenzollern in which they outline a brilliant plan! Two powerful movements came together during the Renaissance in Italy in the 16th century. The first is the Hermetic Movement, which was inspired by an ancient set of books housed in the library of Cosimo de Medici and written by the Egyptian sage Hermes Trismegistus. The Movement expounded the return of the "true religion of the world", based on a form of natural magic, drawing down the powers of the heavens and incorporating them into statues and physical structures. The other, the Heliocentric Movement launched by Copernicus directly challenged the Vatican's biblical interpretation of a geocentric world declared heresy by the Pope. The result was a magical architectural plan and the building of a hidden HERMETIC Temple of the Sun right in front of and blessed by the Vatican itself!

The planet Uranus rules Aquarius and is considered to be responsible for sudden and disruptive change as well as ruling over our modern day science, space travel, technology and scientific discovery. It is associated with the circulatory system, physical changes, paralysis, cramp, and sudden nervous break- down. Uranus is erratic in its motions and is powerful enough to break down any resistance. Its energies must be tamed and guided in the proper direction without dulling their impact. Positive qualities include being humane, independent, kind, friendly, inventive, versatile and forward thinking. Negative traits include being cranky, erratic, eccentric, perverse, rebellious, with a tendency towards idiosyncratic behaviour.

 Gem Stone

Auralite Amethyst

Robert Simmons has co-authored a superb book with Naisha Ahsian which has a wonderfully comprehensive account of the different crystal energies. It is called, "The Book of Stones" and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in understanding the crystal kingdom.

Robert has this to say about a newly discovered form of Amethyst

"Auralite is a magical stone that will bring harmony and balance to all. A superior crystal to meditate with, allowing us to delve deeper, transcend to our highest realms and focus our inner spirit on the abundance that is all around us. Auralite Crystals activate each of our chakras due to the addition of 23 minerals within its matrix. Auralite will enhance and magnify the energies of other crystals, allowing the light worker to accelerate the healing process by incorporating Auralite with their current crystals and methodologies. Auralite can be used in balancing the physical body as well, but the greatest affects will be felt in the spiritual development that occurs. We can see this most when our minds eye opens to the infinite possibilities that Auralite Crystals present; flashes of intuitiveness and ingenious thoughts will frequent the carrier regularly. Auralite Crystals take on a special role when used with other high frequency stones, for example: two matching tuning forks will vibrate together even though only one was struck; this is how Auralite can amplify other crystals."

Embodying the Sacred Feminine
by Peter Tongue

I am fascinated by the way in which the synchronous events are magnifying. We just have to step back and watch them play out in awe and wonder. A wonderful example happened just last week. Following the return of Venus in the morning sky and the Sun's magnetic pole shift, I noticed that there was a different quality to the light. Even when the sun was not out, there was a new distinct clarity and then when the Sun did come out, it felt like a massive warming expansion. Just two days later, Patti Cota-Robles sent out one of her regular e-mail communications which opened with, "2014 was birthed on to the screen of life in an explosion of light infused with higher frequencies of Divine Love!" And there you have it! I firmly believe that the combination of the Sun's pole shift, Comet Ison's journey around the Sun and Venus returning to the morning sky has created this opportunity for a new level of Divine Love through the sacred feminine of Venus to embrace us.

When Venus goes into the underworld, she is seeking out all of the aspects of herself hidden from view, on this occasion illuminated by the Full Moon in Cancer, just before her return. She re-configures and re-constitutes herself during this process and then returned victorious in all her Glory on Friday January 5

th bringing with her these new aspects of the sacred feminine to be activated and integrated in us over the next 18 months.

So how is this playing out in the human kingdom? My radio show seems to be developing its own theme of consciousness of the new revelations of the sacred feminine. It seems to be organizing itself without my involvement at this time. Judy Guadalupe did a wonderful job with her poetry and meanderings to encourage us all to free our own God Dance. To be true to ourselves, eke out all remaining limiting belief patterns and be fluid and free in our dance. Cate Montana has written a  wonderful book called Unearthing Venus in which she describes her own unraveling of a life of great success in a Man's world as a woman being like a man. Having realized that and becoming a recluse to try and work out the truth of the feminine, she had a second revelation that even when being an empowered woman, it was still marching to the drum of the male beliefs and expectations of woman. She had to go back to the deepest place of her being to realize what the sacred feminine is from a WOMAN'S perspective and in particular her own. Reaching that place of the raw unbounded feminine spirit is a powerful and primal force that terrifies man and was the reason this energy was suppressed in the first place. And now the sacred feminine is making a welcome return. Not battering man into submission, but offering to dance the dance together. Similar revelations and insights from a different perspective were also forthcoming with Sera Beak on her radio show. What does all this mean? My belief is that the sacred feminine is making a welcome return as a result of those women who have had the courage to go within and wrestle with societies beliefs about them and their own inner knowing. This brings the awareness out of the shadows and into the light of human consciousness to be loved, honoured and respected. Now it is up to us to model appropriate male/female behaviour in this new energy and way of being so that we can indeed pioneer a new Golden Era of Peace. Mother Earth is offering us all of the resources we need to enhance our lives when we take up her mantle and work together in peace, unity, harmony and love for the greater good of all.

The New Moon in Aquarius on Friday January 31st, an unusual second New Moon in the month, heralds in the Chinese Year of the Horse. This is an auspicious and highly respected animal within Chinese Astrology and culture, considered second only to the Dragon which flies through the air in majesty while the horse is fleet of foot on the ground. This is a Wood Horse year associated with the colour green and trees. The most similar qualities of the Horse in western astrology would be the Gemini twins. Quick of thought and word, excellent communicators, you can expect things to unfold quickly in the Year of the Horse. It is red, fiery, and hot like the midday sun and can be explosive in nature, particularly if feeling constrained. It should be a year of high energy and rapid movement especially if you have some goals that you want to fulfill. It is a good idea to appease the Gods by carrying a symbol with you that balances and complements the horse and that should be a sheep, lamb or ram! Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Star Temple Victoria - Last Round!

We wanted to let you all know that this will be the last round of the Victoria Temple of the Stars' monthly Alchemical Journeys. As we reach the end of the third cycle, we feel that this process is coming to a natural completion. And what a journey it has been!

We thank all of you who have walked with us, shared your beautiful presence, your stories, poetry, insights, visions, and creativity on these journeys. We are indebted to Mary Dowds for following her intuition, for discerning the zodiac disc in the Victoria landscape, and for all of the foundational work she had done, making all of this possible. We are grateful to Ted Spiers who had an uncanny knack for finding the most hidden, magical power spots within the effigies that Mary had discovered. And we have been blessed to have Melanie Lichtinger as our astrological consultant, sharing her wealth of knowledge and insights over the past three years.

We began on April 17th, 2011, in Aries, the birthday of Katharine Maltwood, the visionary and historical inspiration behind the Star Temple. It felt as though the first year was about us getting acquainted with the landscape structures, the myths, legends, and history of the different regions, and as we began to acknowledge the amazing synchronicities that took place, many more began to follow.

The second round felt as though it was much more to do with our own personal journeys of transformation - travelling through the twelve sun signs as the archetypes of our own unique humanness, both the positive light qualities and the more challenging shadow side of each sign, coming into wholeness by embracing each and every one. It was also about the alchemical process as we worked with the planetary metals of each of the signs' ruling planets.

And this year's journey has been more about opening our hearts and coming into perfect alignment with Mother Earth herself. With Zia guiding us in sacred ceremony every single time we have gathered over the past three years, it really feels as if we have come into a much deeper, sacred connection with our sweet Earth. On our walks, a beautiful interchange has been happening between us and the birds, animals, trees, elementals, and the landscape itself through vistas, visions, cloud formations and the play of light coming through in photographs. It feels as if a deep, permeating peace and joyfulness has settled into the landscape, just as it has settled into our own beings, as we walk.

We will meet for the final three signs in Capricorn on January 5th, Aquarius on February 2nd, and Pisces on March 2nd, bringing everything to completion at a final gathering around the Spring Equinox at the hub at a date yet to be decided. (Somewhere between Thursday March 20th-Sunday March 23rd).

We are absolutely dedicated to the sacred landscape of Victoria and will continue to co-create with it, and with the wonderful community that has grown with us, in different ways in the future. (And we truly encourage you to do your own explorations, meditations - whatever you are inspired to do - within the landscape as well - and see what you come up with!) There will be more walks and gatherings during key alignment times at sacred sites in the area. We are also feeling called to expand beyond our local landscape to connect with other magical places on Vancouver Island and in the world.

We wanted to let you know early so that those who wish to complete the journey with us can make the necessary plans. We are looking forward to a fantastic New Year and many new adventures!

Capricorn Workshop

Climbing Our Spiritual Mountain!

We began our journey this year linking our Capricorn and Sagittarius effigies together by walking a beautiful short meandering trail alongside Bowker Creek, starting in Sagittarius and finishing in Capricorn. We opened space and then made an offering of crackers to Mother Earth through the plentiful ducks awaiting us on the Creek. It is interesting that our goat and centaur lie parallel alongside each other in the landscape, because traditionally goats were used to calm the nerves of highly strung race horses before they compete. To "Get your goat!" would be to remove the goat from the stable so that the horse would get agitated and not perform well, just as you would get agitated when it loses the race and you your money!

We then continued our Capricorn journey at a beautiful wooded ocean overlook, Anderson Hill Park, where we had a breathtaking connection with Mt. Baker. The view from this spot is spectacular, overlooking the south and east coastal vistas. Capricorn is about the goat, the mountain and the light and here we were embracing all three on a crystal clear, cool morning.

This is the area in the south-east corner of our entire landscape zodiac, where the sun begins its illumination from sea to land every morning, very appropriate as our Capricorn effigy is a Goat-Serpent with a goat's head with single horn, goat's body and serpent like tail, wrapping around on itself like an ouroborus. This half-sea, half-land creature weaves along the shoreline from the Royal Victoria Golf Club at Newport and Beach, all the way along Willows Beach and Cattle Point, culminating at the tip of the horn at Loon Park, just south of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, the most affluent part of town.

Capricorn is an earth sign which encourages us through ambition to climb the mountain of materialism. Capricorns are commonly found in the corporate world, moving up from position to position, salary increase to salary increase, until they reach the top of the mountain. Once there, the ambitious goat exclaims, "Now what?" This mountain now dissolves away as the initiate Capricorn begins a second climb on the spiritual mountain, bringing all of the learning and experience from their pragmatic mountain. Turning to service is the way of the enlightened Capricorn.

So we had two metaphorical mountains to climb on this day. The first at Anderson Hill where we acknowledge the "Temptation of Christ" with a magnificent view in front of us. "All this could be yours if you kneel down and worship me!" Worship of the material world. Fortunately our group of pilgrims agreed to continue on their alchemical journey and climb the spiritual peak in Uplands Park later in the day.

We enjoyed our inside discussion in a private home, overlooking beautiful Gonzales Bay, considering the qualities of Capricorn and the Astrological influences of the day, as well as enjoying some exquisite food.

Our first stop after lunch was on the shoreline at the base of the effigy where the Goat Serpent's tail comes on shore and then we gathered under the Willow Tree on Willows Beach and Cynthia/Sylvia lead us in a discussion about holding sacred space for ceremonial work to be done at a distance. This had taken place here on the fall equinox when a group of us were far away at the Eiffel Tower. This spot is clearly a power point in the landscape.

A walk around cattle point in the head of the goat took us across the road to the Oak Bay War Memorial. This beautiful memorial has a caped woman at the center, "Mother Peace". She was our portal through to the afterlife. Capricorn is the location of the Golden Gate or gate through to the afterlife, often symbolized by St. Peter with the keys. We all made our commitment to die to our old way of being and let go of those aspects of ourselves that do not serve us on our new enlightened journey.

We passed through the Portal of Mother Peace into the afterlife. We climbed our spiritual mountain in our own specific way and then conducted ceremony at two Arbutus Trees in the Gary Oak Forest which our beloved Ted had discovered. We married the two together, symbolic of our masculine and feminine sides, becoming one. Zia buried our Labradorite crystal representing Capricorn in a sacred ceremony at the pineal gland of the Goat in the landscape. As we held space together, Zia became aware of the powerful presence of Mt. Baker behind her during the ceremony bringing our journey to a momentous conclusion. Now we were ready to be reborn into the world, with a clearer view and insight into our new expanded awareness as initiates on the spiritual path.

The single goat horn is symbolic of the Unicorn's horn, taking the practical knowledge of the material world and merging it with our new journey on the spiritual path which is the path of the Unicorn in service. Our "Horn of plenty" in the landscape leads us through the most expensive homes in Victoria to abundance, harmony and balance on this most sacred journey. We are reminded of the need to stay focused on our spiritual life in service, not getting wrapped up in the outer world illusion of consumerism, chaos and confusion.

We had a magnificent day in the Capricorn landscape, feeling fully satisfied with our alchemical transformation, and looking forward to full freedom in Aquarius on Sunday, February 2nd!

Monthly Constellation
Sparkling Sirius!

Orion's Belt points downward toward the blue and sometimes red sparkly brightest star, Sirius. It is the closest star that's ever visible to the naked eye from most of North America and all of Europe. Since ancient times Sirius has been "the Dog Star," the outstanding light of Canis Major, the Big Dog. Ancient people realized that in summer, Sirius is located in the daytime sky along with the Sun and hence the "Dog Days" of summer.

Mercury is low in the sunset for the first week of February. Look for it glittering above the west-southwest horizon in twilight, dimmer each day. Venus rises in the east-southeast shortly before dawn begins and then climbs into higher view as dawn brightens.

Mars rises in the east around midnight, with fainter Spica, to its lower right, following it up later. By dawn they're both high in the southwest. Jupiter is the brightest "star" in the evening sky, shining in the centre of Gemini. Don't miss the Moon/Jupiter conjunction on February 10th!

Book Review
Unearthing Venus; My Search for the Woman Within
by Cate Montana

"Raw and real, heartwarming and at turns hilarious, I couldn't put this book down and I didn't want it to end!"
-Kathleen McGowan, author of the New York Times Bestseller The Expected One

But Unearthing Venus is not just a book. It's also a process-a personal rediscovery of the long suppressed, mostly forgotten female values of trust, compassion and community so absent from our present overly masculinized culture.

"People are longing for meaning, authentic wisdom and beauty in their lives," says author Cate Montana. "In order to experience these things, in order to feel any real sense of security and value as human beings, we must grant female cooperative instincts at least the same weight and authority now accorded the highly progressive but dehumanizing competitive urges of man."

Welcome to Unearthing Venus-the book, the process, the exploration, the questions... and a whole new way of looking at and living life.

Astrological Signs

Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac, is Universal in orientation and the last air sign. It is ruled by explosive Uranus; advanced thought, acceptance of all points of view and being able to view the infinite in all things. The water carrier brings clear truth and eternal wisdom of which we may all partake. Aquarius teaches the values of science and extra sensory perception and signifies the new millennium that we are poised to enter, in which our world will be transformed. Aquarians need to be given as much latitude as possible to exercise their imaginative powers and placed under as few restrictions as possible. Joy is essential and they like things to go easily, wishing for happiness and understanding . If confronted with conflict or stressful demands, they are likely to fly off the handle, go on the attack or disappear. Aquarians are promoters of high ideals and they value scientific and universal truth.

Monthly Animal Totem

Balanced Feminine Energy

Otter teaches us the freedom of love without jealousy. The joy of loving other people's and their children's accomplishments as much as we love our own. These women dance in the balance of feminine energy and often use Otter hide to make their medicine bags. Otter is the personification of the sacred feminine; long, sleek, playful and graceful-full of joy! Otter is always on the move, curious and seeing things from a different perspective. Otter shows us how to create a space for others to enter our lives without pre-conceived notions or suspicions. Otter expresses joy for others, content in their good fortune.
