- At the end of the prayer service, classes will be dismissed individually from the church.

First Friday Schedule
On the first Friday of the new school year (September 4th), all students (with the exception of pre-k) will participate in an all-day retreat beginning with Mass at 8:45am. Students will gather in family groups to participate in activities and learn about being DISCIPLES (from our parish Hearts on Fire process).
Parents are also invited to participate in an adult mini-retreat beginning with 8:45am Mass and concluding at 11:45am with the end of school. The retreat will be led by our new pastoral associate, Carol Guenther. Child care is available for parents participating in the retreat, but you must RSVP to
Amy Davis by Wednesday, September 9th so that we can ensure a spot for you.
Renewal Food Bank Food Drive
Student and parent volunteers are needed to collect food on September 19 at the QFC on NE 8th Street for the Renewal Food Bank. Shifts are two hours.
Sign up HERE to help those in need right here in Bellevue.
Lunch Options
We are working on finalizing some lunch options for families who are interested in ordering lunches to be delivered to school. More information will be sent on Friday. We are also still studying the feasibility of creating an in-house lunch program to better serve our students and their families.
Back to School
Back to School Nights are an opportunity to meet your child's teachers and find out about the adventures and expectations for the coming year. The 6th through 8th session will be on September 9th and the K-5th session will be on September 10th. Both sessions run from 6:30 to 8:00pm.
Administration Changes
I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Bridget Lawler, who had been our Vice Principal for Professional Development, will now be our school's Vice Principal and working in a variety of administrative areas. She will also continue in her role as our Math Specialist. Mrs. Lawler has worked as part of our administrative team for five years and has been a teacher at Sacred Heart School for twenty years. While we will be dividing up administrative tasks, we will not be dividing up the grades any longer. Both Mrs. Lawler and I will be involved with sand supervising all grades, pre-k through 8th.
Since Mrs. Lawler will be busy for part of each day with her teaching duties, I have also decided to ask Mrs. Amy Davis to serve as our Dean of Students this year. Mrs. Davis has been running our Extended School Services program for eight years and is involved with a variety of administrative functions at the school, including overseeing our Safe Environment program. In addition to her extensive experience working with our students, her bachelor's degree in psychology will prepare her well to assist me with student disciplinary issues and other related matters.

We are working to set up credit card payment option and will be ready Tuesday, September 1st. Please calculate accordingly. Credit card payments can be made here at the school on Tuesday, September 1st - Thursday, September 3rd from 8:30am-9:30am. SHS Logo Uniform Items
We understand that some families have been experiencing difficulties with the timely receipt of the uniform pieces with the SHS Logo from Lands' End. Please do not worry, simply send an email to your child's teacher Pre-K-5 or homeroom teacher in grades 6-8 to let them know about this situation. We hope you will be set and have required navy uniform pieces with logos (either new or used) by no later than Wednesday, September 9th.
Band at Sacred Heart School
Band will return to Sacred Heart School in September. Intermediate Band will meet on Mondays and Thursdays, Beginning Band on Tuesdays and Fridays. They will meet 7:40-8:20am. Please contact
Mrs. McDougall for more information.
Volunteer Training
Mandatory training for everyone volunteering in the health room, playground, lunch room, library, or classrooms will take place on September 9th and 10th immediately before Back to School Night (5:30-6:30pm). If you are volunteering in one or more of these places at any point during the year you must attend either one of these trainings whether you are a rookie or a veteran. We appreciate all of our volunteers. We couldn't run our school without you.
In addition, anyone who is volunteering with or around children in the school or parish must attend a Safe Environment training program. One will be offered here at Sacred Heart School on
September 16th starting at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall. For more information, please contact
Amy Davis.
Middle School Summer Work
Students in middle school should bring their completed summer work to the second day of school. The first day will be spent learning study and organizational skills, meeting their teachers, learning their schedules, and learning about the expectations for each of their classes.
ESS (Extended School Services)
ESS will be available on the first day of school both before school from 7-8:20am and after school from 3:15pm until 6:00 pm. After school care will be available on the first Friday of school on a limited basis. You must contact
Amy Davis in advance to secure a spot.
Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures
Whether you are a new parent at Sacred Heart School, a veteran of 20 first days of school, or somewhere in between, please take a few minutes to
review the procedures for drop-off and pick-up of students for the safety of our community.
From the Health Room
Sacred Heart School follows WA Administrative Code (WAC) for policy on student medication(s) at school.
Please refer to the
HealthRoom page for specifics on the medication policy & required form(s) to be submitted in order to have medications available at school. This policy applies to both prescriptions and/or over the counter (OTC) medications prescribed for daily, emergency, as-needed or earthquake plan medications.
For those students with life-threatening conditions such as severe allergies, diabetes, epilepsy etc., parents are required to submit the required Authorization of Medication form(s) and medication(s) by August 24 to ensure that medication(s) and plan(s) of care are in place prior to the start of the school year.
