Free Dress Opportunity - May 11th

Support JDRF and get free dress! We are excited to announce that this year JDRF will be one of the sponsors of our SHS Jog-A-Thon. Representatives from JDRF will be there cheering our children on and educating them on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. To give back to JDRF, on Monday, May 11th any student that brings in a donation of $2.00 or more may have free dress (please make checks out to JDRF). In addition they will get their name on a paper JDRF donation sneaker that will be displayed on the school walls. Let's support JDRF and cover the school walls with sneakers!

Jog-A-Thon Update

One week in, and we are 20% towards our goal of $62,000. Keep those pledges coming! Remember, each class that hits their goal gets a Kona Shaved Ice Party. You can donate through individual page or through the school online donation site.

This year, May 19th is a free dress day and our runners will be participating in their family colors (just like Field Day!). Thank you! - Jog-A-Thon Committee

New Lower Lot Drop-off Procedure

New lower lot morning drop-off procedures went into effect this past Monday. Please do not park to the East of the drop-off line (passenger side). Instead, please park to West (driver side). This procedure will greatly reduce the number of students crossing the drop-off line of cars. When you are finished parking, please head South and rejoin the drop-off line to exit at the North end of the parking lot. Do not exit on 14th St. as this will cause a back-up of cars trying to enter the parking lot.  Please click here for visual directions.

- Mr. Burroughs

Tim Murphy Award

As previously mentioned, we are creating a graduation award to honor Mr. Murphy as her retires this year. The award will recognize an 8th grade student who is active in his or her parish, demonstrates a commitment to serving others, and lives a life that embodies the Prayer of St. Francis. The first award will be given this year at graduation. - Mr. Burroughs

Afternoon Pre-Kindergarten Program

We are happy to announce the opening of an afternoon pre-kindergarten program beginning this fall. The class will run five days per week from 12:10-3:10 and follow the same curriculum as the morning program. Due to state regulations and academic concerns, students may not sign up for both the morning and afternoon sessions. For more information, please e-mail Susana Knapp.

Upcoming Changes in Service Board Sign-Ups

Service Jobs are an integral part of the Sacred Heart Community. By volunteering you enrich the academic and student environment for our students.  We count on these jobs for the success of our school.  This year we are excited to announce that we are moving all Service Job Sign-Ups online.   To help with this transition we are offering an informational evening to come by and ask questions about any job and if it would be a good fit for your time and talents.

Here are the important dates to mark your calendar:

  • May 7, 6:15 - 7pm Service Job Information Evening (no sign ups on this night) in Sheffield Library
  • May 14, 7am Signup Genius Service Job link will go live
  • August 31, Families not having a service job will be invoiced $1000

Through our Service Program, parents work side-by-side, develop friendships, and strengthen our community.

Any questions please e-mail Christine Kerr

Summer Math Review for K-5 Students:

Each summer we require our students to practice and maintain the skills that they have learned this year in Math.  This summer the options will be the same as last year.  Please decide which option you are choosing:

  • Option A:  Summer Math Skills Sharpener - Hard Copy Math Review booklet we have used in the past.  Order online  $17.00 plus shipping costs directly to your home.  Order the grade level that your child is currently completing.  Do not order the next year ahead.
  • Option B:  Math Whizz and Xtra MathStudents continue to access their accounts at home during the summer. Need to log on at least 45 minutes a week for Math Whizz and 3 times a week for Xtra Math to see growth.  Progress is monitored and growth is tracked.  Teachers are able to use this data to prepare for September. No Cost
  • Option C:  Weekly Tutoring if preferred or already in place or another program to be approved by Mrs. Lawler

From the Development Office

Thank you to everyone who participated in the GiveBIG event on Tuesday, May 5th.

Together we raised over $13,000, which will be matched with stretch funds from The Seattle Foundation. Typically, that is a 7% - 8% match! We are so thankful for everyone who took this opportunity to meet and exceed their Treasures of Faith Annual Fund Pledge.

Within the next week, you will receive an email with your updated Treasures of Faith Annual Fund information. If you have not yet met your pledge or would like to make a donation, you can do so at any time using this link:  Treasures of Faith.  All donations are 100% tax deductible and eligible for employer match funds.

If you work for Microsoft be sure to submit your volunteer service hours through your employee portal. Microsoft pays $20/hour to Sacred Heart School for a minimum of 4 hours of service. Another great way to show your support.
