Attention Current 6th & 7th Grade Parents
Washington DC Trip 2016 Parent Informational Meeting
Your child is invited to make memories of a lifetime on the optional trip to Washington DC during Spring Break 2016! This is an every-other-year trip so don't miss out! This trip is for next year's 7th and 8th graders. There will be a parent informational meeting on May 5th at 6:30pm in Mrs. McReynolds' classroom. Come learn about the details of the trip, including itinerary highlights, safety procedures, travel arrangements, and cost. This will be the 18th student trip led by middle school teacher Mrs. McReynolds. Registration materials will be available at the meeting. Hope to see you there! Questions? Please e-mail Mrs. McReynolds
$2 Free Dress Day
Next Tuesday, April 21st, students may wear free dress to school if they bring in a donation of $2 or more for Holy Rosary School in Tacoma. Holy Rosary School is a bilingual Catholic school which serves a diverse population. Although the school continues to struggle financially, they have been making steady progress in the right direction. They are currently trying to meet a matching grant goal by the end of April and our free dress day donations will help them to achieve that. Please make checks out Holy Rosary School. - Mr. Burroughs
The Tim Murphy Award
In honor of Mr. Murphy's 25 years of Service to Sacred Heart School, we are creating the Tim Murphy Award to recognize a graduating 8th grade student. We are still working out some of the details of the award, but it will recognize students who bring to their time here at Sacred Heart School the commitment to faith and service embodied by Mr. Murphy. It will be awarded for the first time at this year's graduation. - Mr. Burroughs
Upcoming Unusual Days
As a reminder, we have two unusual days coming up. We will have no school on Friday, May 22nd as part of a four-day Memorial Day weekend. We had an extra day available and decided that it would be best put together with Memorial Day weekend to provide some extra family time in the (hopefully) sunny weather. Also, Friday, May 29th will be a short day with dismissal at 1:15pm. After long experience with Field Day we have decided to cut the length of the day in order to better accommodate our younger students and to avoid the injuries that increase as the day goes on. We are making adjustments to the timing and schedules that will allow us to continue to provide all of the fun activities of Field Days past in less time.
Costco is Now Selling Uniform Items!
Costco is now selling a few of our uniform pieces online under the French Toast brand. Currently they are selling a khaki pleated skort that can be worn by our middle school girls, navy blue and white polos, navy pants (K-5), khaki shorts, and khaki pants (girls 6-8), all at great prices! Some of you may be familiar with this brand; I can tell you from previous experience, this is a quality brand. Their items are durable and wear well. - Ms. Gray
Prayer Requests
Maddy Malecha, mother of Jules Gimbernat in 4th grade, was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. Please keep her, Jules, and her family in your prayers as she begins her treatment.
Please keep Martin Nwizugbo (father of David in 8th and Joseph in 6th) and Meng Phua (father of Justin in 8th) and their families in your prayers as they continue to recover from serious illnesses.
Music Substitute
Because Mrs. McDougall's baby is due next Monday, this Friday will be her last work day this year. Please keep her in your prayers for a safe delivery. Mrs. Becky Lucarelli will be our long-term music substitute for the balance of the year. Mrs. Lucarelli is the Director of Music Ministry at Holy Family Parish in Kirkland, has a background in music education, and extensive experience as a substitute teacher. Please welcome her when you see her on campus. - Mr. Burroughs
Food Drive April 25th
Sacred Heart School is hosting a food drive at the QFC in downtown Bellevue in support of the Renewal Food Bank. Student volunteers and parent chaperones are invited to sign up today. All students should wear their uniform while volunteering (it does increase donations).
Free Homework Help
Students with a King County Library card can receive free, online homework help with science, math, reading, the arts and more - click here for more information. - Mr. Burroughs
Two Spring Lunch Recess Playground Volunteers Needed
We are in our third (and final) trimester of Lunch Recess coverage for the school year. Things are looking much brighter than they did during the winter, but we are still in need one person for each day on Wednesday and Thursday from 12:10-1:05pm. If this sounds like a fun way to spend your lunch time, or you have an hour to spare, please e-mail Denise Montoya, our Lunch Recess Playground Volunteer Coordinator and our Vice Principal, Connie Gray,
- Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Grandparents' and Grandfriends' Day
Sacred Heart School is excited to once again welcome your children's grandparents and grandfriends to our school for a morning of liturgy and time with the children on May 8. As we are busy preparing for this special day, we need your help in letting us know if the grandparentsand/or grandfriends in your family will be attending. Please RSVP your confirmation with the number of grandparents attending as well as their mailing address by clicking on the following webpage. Once we receive your confirmation, we will send out a formal invitation to the attending guests.
It is very important that we receive this information as soon as possible, as we will have a complimentary continental breakfast specifically for the grandparents and grandfriends and we want to ensure the caterer has the correct number of attendees.
- Thank you for your attention and we look forward to welcoming these special guests to our school.

Yearbook team needs your help! We are looking for candid photos from the school year for all grades - field trips, dances, playground, classroom, science fair, culture fair, wax museum, etc. We are also looking for some great selfies from our students. I know we've all seen them on Instagram so send them to yearbook@sacredheart.org for a special section of the yearbook. Top 5 selfies will receive a Jamba Juice gift card!
Lost and Found
Our lost and found closet is over-filled with items and we must clear it out once again. We pulled the rolling rack out into the foyer before Easter Break for easier visibility and will leave it out through Friday, April 24th. At that time, all unclaimed items will be donated and we will start fresh again in lost and found! Items on our rack include those left behind in the Moore Theater area during Passion play practices and Playmaker practices. Smaller, more valuable items, are placed at the front office and include two pairs of glasses recently found at the school. Please inquire with Kerry Wyman at the front desk accordingly.

Thank you to all the families who have currently donated to this year's Treasures of Faith Annual Fund. As we enter into the third trimester of school, we are still working to reach 100% of our Annual Fund goal ($225,000) by June 1, 2015. The funds raised through the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund go to support increased school counseling services, Spanish curriculum throughout all grades, new textbooks and more. We strive to provide the highest quality catholic education to all students and we need your support.
We have currently received $109,000 or about 50% toward the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund goal. If you have not yet made a pledge or a payment or would like to make an additional payment, please be sure to send in donation at your earliest convenience.
The Treasures of Faith Annual Fund is 100% tax deductible and is available for Employer Matching contributions. Please consider being a part of the financial mission of our school.
