2015 Gala Auction - "Come Together"
We sure did come together to support our school last Saturday night and we raised a record amount of money for our Fund-a-Need and for our general fundraising goal which funds the educational and instructional expenses of our school. I am so grateful to all of the members of the auction team for their outstanding work with this auction from beginning to end. I especially want to thank our Auction Chairs
Julie & Damon Huard, our Auction Advisor Christine Kerr, and our Director of Development Theresa Daigle. I am also very happy to be able to announce that our chair for the 2016 auction will be Kris Mitchke.
- Mr. Burroughs
Auction Fund-a-Need
Thanks to the generosity of our school community we were able to raise the money that we needed for our most ambitious Fund-a-Need ever! This summer we will be undertaking the work to refurbish our gym as a result. All money donated to the Fund-a-Need will be used for gym improvements, including any excess money (if there is any). If you wanted to participate in the Fund-a-Need but have not yet done so, you can still make your pledge online.
Registration Information for 2015-2016
Both returning and new families will register for 2015-2016 school year through our on-line process (same as we have done the past few years.) This will take place early March with a deadline around March 16th. You will receive emailed instructions which will walk you through the steps. If you already know that your student/family will not be returning to SHS (or is considering not returning), please feel free to confidentially contact Susana Knapp to discuss
this right away.
School Security
In order to make some important upgrades to the school's security system, we will be adding a one-time $35 per family fee to this year's registration. All of the proceeds from this fee will be used to pay for these security upgrades only. As is always the case with these things, I don't want to specify exactly what changes are being made in order to maximize their usefulness, but I will say that the changes will improve our ability to monitor the security of our campus during the school day and outside of regular hours. - Mr. Burroughs
Thank You Lunch from Treehouse!
Treehouse wants to thank the Sacred Heart students for their generous support over the past ten years with a pizza luncheon on Friday, February 27th. Pizza will be served to all students during the regular lunch periods. If your child cannot eat pizza please pack a lunch on that day.
Also - Thank You to all of you who participated in our Cold Weather Clothing/Gear Drive for Treehouse. In only a week we received twenty-three ski jackets, five pairs of ski boots, fifteen pairs of ski gloves, fifteen ski hats and an assortment of other cold weather/ski gear items; your generosity is amazing!!!!! The staff at Treehouse were very excited when we told them about the donations and asked that we tell the Sacred Heart School community how much they appreciate our continued support. - The Seltz Family and the Sacred Heart Student Council

We are looking for someone to cover a Monday afternoon shift from 1:45-3:15pm every other week beginning Monday, February 9th. We are also looking for someone to cover a Wednesday morning shift from 8:30-10:00am every other week beginning Wednesday, February, 11th. If you are available to help, or have any questions about the position, please e-mail our Vice Principal, Connie Gray or call 425-451-1773 x 115. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
2015-2016 School Calendar
The major dates for the next school year are on our school's Google calendar now with new dates being added as they are confirmed.
A question was asked in the calendar survey about why we moved the in-service day that used to be in September to October. We did not move it. The Office for Catholic Schools moved it and we are required to attend on the day that they set. It was moved in response to many requests from archdiocesan schools. - Mr. Burroughs
Academic Resource Class (ARC) Information Night - March 4th, 6:30pm, Art Room
ARC is an elective class offered to our Middle School students who would benefit from pre-teaching, re-teaching and supporting the core curriculum in reading, math and writing along with learning study skills that match specific learning styles. If you would like to learn more about this elective course please join us.
Prayers to the Holy Land
Each of our classes is composing a prayer to be sent with Fr. Steve and 36 other pilgrims who will be travelling to the Holy Land during the Midwinter Break. These prayers will be inserted into the "Wailing Wall" in Jerusalem. Three of our teachers are part of this pilgrimage and will be making a presentation to our school about their trip after they return. Please keep the all in your prayers. - Mr. Burroughs
CRS Rice Bowl
This Lent we will participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that will help you experience Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity with people in need around the world.
As we, the global Church, prepare for the World Meeting of Families 2015 in Philadelphia this fall, it is especially appropriate to come together in prayer as a family this Lent. Your cardboard CRS Rice Bowl and Lenten Calendar are great tools to guide your Lenten prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Read these materials together and consider what you will give up for Lent as a family or as individuals. Be sure to write your goals on the side of your CRS Rice Bowl.
Your Lenten Calendar has brief activities for each day of Lent, Stories of Hope from people around the world and recipes for simple meatless meals. Consider reading the Lenten Calendar as a family each day at dinner. Try one or more of the recipes for a meatless Friday dinner and be sure to watch the CRS Rice Bowl Global Kitchen videos to learn how to prepare each meal.
Be sure to visit www.crsricebowl.org to view videos of people whose lives are touched by your support of CRS Rice Bowl. You can also find fun activities for your family. And download the CRS Rice Bowl app to receive daily reflections right on your phone-and to track your Lenten sacrifices.
We will be collecting your CRS Rice Bowls at the end of Lent, so stay tuned to learn more. Thank you for using CRS Rice Bowl with your family this Lent.
