Auction Fund-a-Need
It's time for us all to come together and make our gym a place of which we can all be proud! If you'd like our gym to be safer, more secure, more attractive, and more useful for all of the classes and groups who use it day in and day out, then pledge your support for our Fund-a-Need this Saturday night at the auction. Come see the drawings of the proposed changes to our gym on display in the lobby. If you cannot be there at the auction, you can still make your donation or pledge online.

We are also looking for someone to cover a Wednesday morning shift from 8:30-10:00am every other week beginning Wednesday, February, 11th. Calendar Survey and Start Date for 2015-2016
I want to thank everyone who participated in our survey about the start of school for next year. There were some passionate comments on all sides. 68% of the parents and staff who responded want us to start school before Labor Day (almost evenly divided between August 31st and September 1st start dates). The Bellevue School District will start on Tuesday, September 1st. The majority of the Catholic high schools in the area will also start on or before August 31st. For families who have children in more than one school these are important considerations.
So, given all of this, I have decided that we will start school next year on August 31st with a few important differences. Monday through Thursday will be, regular full days (except for kindergarten). Friday, September 4th will be a half day with dismissal at 12:00. We will have no school on Monday, September 7th and Tuesday, September 8th. This will allow us to start school the first week of September and get out by June 17 but also creates a nice Labor Day weekend with time for travel and relaxation. Back to School nights will be the second week of school instead of the first week. I know that summers are precious here in the Northwest and I hope that this solution honors that and keeps our year from extending too far into June.

Announcing the 2015 6th Grade Peacemaker Wax Museum!
After reading a biography of a peacemaker, the 6th graders will make these remarkable people come to life on Feb. 11th in the gym! From 2:20-3:05pm, you are invited to come and hear about the lives of peacemakers such as Pope Francis, Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Malala.
The 6th graders have been working hard on their presentations and would be honored if came to learn more about peacemakers anytime between 2:20 and 3:05. They will be standing around the perimeter of the gym, "frozen" in place until someone pushes the button that will be near their feet. Then they will come alive as their peacemaker and orally present information about their lives.
This is one of the highlights of 6th grade and students are excited to share about the lives of peacemakers who embody virtues they learned about in the primary grades.
Please join us! Gena McReynolds and Rosemarie Engman, 6th grade LA teachers

The archdiocese is also preparing an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document which will also be posted on their website as soon as it is completed.
