Auction Fund-a-Need

This year our Fund-a-Need has a very ambitious goal of almost $200,000. This is our biggest goal ever for a Fund-a-Need and we will need everyone's participation to achieve it. But out gym is truly at the center of the school. It is the place that we come together as a school community for p.e., lunch, plays, assemblies, talent shows, dinners, CYO sports, Knights of Columbus pancake breakfasts, graduation assemblies, science fairs, culture fairs, and so much more. It is the only room in the school in which all of our students have a class and (with the exception of pre-k) come together each day for lunch.

Our gym has served us well. Now it is in need of some important work. It deserves our support. And that requires a big goal. I ask you to prayerfully consider your ability to support this crucial project. I am happy to announce that both CYO and the Parents Club have committed to making leadership gifts to this project. We will come together and achieve this goal! - Mr. Burroughs

2015-2016 School Year Admissions Information

We are in full swing in admissions.  Thank you to all of you who speak so highly about SHS and your experience here.  So many of our new families come to us because of your recommendations!  Keep them coming and let them know these deadlines:

  • Pre-K 2015-2016 is currently full.  Please call Susana Knapp to discuss wait pool arrangements.
  • 1st round of Kindergarten assessments are being done January 22-24th.  Please call Susana Knapp to arrange individual Kindergarten assessment times based on availability
  • Grades 1-8 applications for 1st round of availability are due February 23rd.  Each grade level currently varies in availability.

Cold Weather Clothing/Gear Drive for Treehouse

Do you have any jackets or other cold weather gear that your children no longer need?

During the week of February 2-6, SHS will be collecting gently used cold weather clothing and gear (jackets, bibs, pants, mitts, gloves, goggles, snow boots, helmets, etc.) for Treehouse, a non-profit agency that provides essential support to children in foster care throughout King County (this is the sane agency we donate our shoes to each December).  Your donated items will be collected by the Student Council in the lower and upper parking lots at morning drop-off.  A collection box will also be placed at the front office during these dates.  Please take a moment to go through your closets and make a difference in the life of a child in foster care.  Thank you!

Middle School Open House - January 28th, Presentation 6:30-7:30pm

Current 4th and 5th grade families, please put this on your calendar as it will be a great opportunity to meet all the MS teachers, hear from recent SHS graduates currently in high school, and ask any questions you may have about our amazing MS program.  Also, please invite any non-SHS families you know that are interested in making a switch for their child's middle school experience.  For these potential new families, we will also have short school tours available before and after the presentation time frame.  New families are welcome to come as early as 6pm for a tour.

All School Open House - January 29th, 9am -1:30pm

Current Sacred Heart students will lead tours throughout the school on this day during Catholic Schools Week.  This is a great opportunity for your friends/family with students at any grade level to come and tour around the school.  If they know they are coming, they can RSVP to Susana Knapp at [email protected] or just drop in anytime between 9am-1:30pm.

From the Parish

Hearts on Fire

Fr. Steve and our Pastoral Council has asked all parishioners (High School students and adults) and non-parishioner Sacred Heart school parents to be part of the parish planning process that begins in January.  Their expectation is that our parish will grow stronger by working together in developing a new 5 year plan for the Sacred Heart. This is the first comprehensive pastoral planning process in the history of Sacred Heart parish The planning process begins on the weekend of January 30-31 and will conclude in June 2015.   The first parish gathering will begin on  Friday evening  January 30 6-9pm, the evening will include dinner, and continue on Saturday morning 9am-1pm. Child care and rides will be provided for Friday and Saturday events.

We do appreciate you signing up in the narthex after Mass or in the Parish or School Office  so we can make the necessary arrangements for food, materials, rides and child care.  If you would like to help with child care as an adult or junior high students or with rides please let us know.

The proper end of a planning process is the state where clarity exists around answers to some key questions.  These include: What are we about? Where are we heading?  Why are we doing what we are doing? How will we achieve our goals?  Who will be involved? When will all the work take place?

This planning process is designed to help Sacred Heart clarify where we are going as we move forward into the future and identifies our focus and priorities for the next five years.  Your input is necessary for the process to be most effective.

Middle School Open Youth Room

Beginning Wednesday, February 4th, from 3:15- 4:30pm, Grant Boggs - Sacred Heart Parish Youth Minister, will have the Sacred Heart Youth Room open for Middle School students.  This will be a great opportunity every Wednesday for students to have a place to go to work on homework, play board games, and enjoy the pool table/foosball tables.  This is not Youth Group but an open Youth Room. If you are interested in this opportunity for your youth please email Grant Boggs for more information and the registration form.
