Auction Fund-a-Need

As announced last week, the Fund-a-Need at this year's auction will be improvements to and refurbishment of the gym. This Fund-a-Need project is actually a collection of several smaller projects which will be broken down into three funding levels. The more money we raise through donations and matches, the more projects we can complete this summer.

Level 1

  • A new sign and banner hanging system to recognize our school's athletic achievements
  • Replacing the blue wall pads around the perimeter of the gym
  • Patching and painting the walls of the gym
  • Painting the CYO and school logos on the back wall of the gym
  • Removing the existing ceiling tiles (before they fall down)
  • Adjusting the height of the main basketball hoops to regulation heights

Level 2

  • Patching and painting the ceiling black
  • Adding acoustic wall panels to improve the sound in the gym
  • Installing walls with doors in the stage wings to improve safety and privacy for middle school students while they are changing for p.e.

Level 3

  • Installing new window coverings to improve the lighting in the gym
  • Installing folding bleachers in the gym to seat approximately 100 people

In addition, the parish is going to be replacing the current lighting in the gym with new LED lights to improve the lighting and reduce electricity usage.

2015-2016 School Year Admissions Information

We are in full swing in admissions.  Thank you to all of you who speak so highly about SHS and your experience here.  So many of our new families come to us because of your recommendations!  Keep them coming and let them know these deadlines:

  • Kindergarten applications are due NOW and mandatory Kindergarten assessments take place on January 22-24th.
  • Grades 1-8 applications for 1st round of availability are due February 23rd.  Each grade level currently varies in availability.

We have some grades that are fully enrolled and a few have slots available.   Please have your contacts call Susana Knapp at 425-451-1773 ext. 156 to discuss the grade level they are interested in as we would love to have your friends/family here too!

Middle School Open House - January 28th, Presentation 6:30-7:30pm

Current 4th and 5th grade families, please put this on your calendar as it will be a great opportunity to meet all the MS teachers, hear from recent SHS graduates currently in HS, and ask any questions you may have about our amazing MS program.  Also, please invite any non-SHS families you know that are interested in making a switch for their child's middle school experience.  For these potential new families, we will also have short school tours available before and after the presentation time frame.  New families are welcome to come as early as 6pm for a tour.

All School Open House - January 29th, 9am -1:30pm

Current Sacred Heart students will lead tours throughout the school on this day during Catholic Schools Week.  This is a great opportunity for your friends/family with students at any grade level to come and tour around the school.  If they know they are coming, they can RSVP to Susana Knapp at sknapp@sacredheart.org or just drop in anytime between 9am-1:30pm.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is over flowing!  There are several winter coats and very nice clothing items (North Face, Under Armor, Seahawks gear) that need to find their homes.  All items are currently organized and displayed in the foyer outside the gym.  Please take the time to come check this area for items that belong to your child.

All unclaimed items will be donated to Care tomorrow.

Martin Luther King Celebration - "HeartBeat"

Sat, Jan 17, 2015 4:30pm

Prelude & 5pm Mass

"HeartBeat" is a new worship group at Sacred Heart, made up of singers Diane Figaro, Renata Lampkin, Stephanie McIntyre, and pianist Ahra Yoo.  We have come together to spread the light of God's love and tenderness through heart-felt, spirited song. "HeartBeat" loves to sing close-harmony, lyrical, and upbeat songs.  We've created arrangements of music by Catholic songwriters, praise and worship songs, and other songs with a spiritual message.  Please join "HeartBeat" at Sacred Heart Church as we celebrate one of the world's greatest leaders, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our celebration will begin at 4:30pm on Sat, Jan 17, leading up to and during the 5pm Mass.

All are welcome!

Church Tour

On Wednesday January 21st at 6:45pm everyone is invited to tour the church with Fr. Steve.  Altar, ambo, ambry, statues, sacristy, narthex, sanctuary, signs and symbols, vessels and vestments will be reviewed and explained.  Who is that Saint in the back alcove?

Hearts on Fire

Fr. Steve and our Pastoral Council has asked all parishioners (High School students and adults) and non-parishioner Sacred Heart school parents to be part of the parish planning process that begins in January.  Their expectation is that our parish will grow stronger by working together in developing a new 5 year plan for the Sacred Heart. This is the first comprehensive pastoral planning process in the history of Sacred Heart parish The planning process begins on the weekend of January 30-31 and will conclude in June 2015.   The first parish gathering will begin on  Friday evening  January 30 6-9pm, the evening will include dinner, and continue on Saturday morning 9am-1pm. Child care and rides will be provided for Friday and Saturday events.

We do appreciate you signing up in the narthex after Mass or in the Parish or School Office  so we can make the necessary arrangements for food, materials, rides and child care.  If you would like to help with child care as an adult or junior high students or with rides please let us know.

The proper end of a planning process is the state where clarity exists around answers to some key questions.  These include: What are we about? Where are we heading?  Why are we doing what we are doing? How will we achieve our goals?  Who will be involved? When will all the work take place?

This planning process is designed to help Sacred Heart clarify where we are going as we move forward into the future and identifies our focus and priorities for the next five years.  Your input is necessary for the process to be most effective.
