ITBS/CogAT Testing
Standardized testing begins this coming Monday, October 20th for grades 2 through 8. Please avoid scheduling appointments during that time so that your child can be at school for testing. Also, please make sure that your child gets plenty of rest the night before testing and eats a good breakfast in the morning.
Teacher Assistance
The primary educational responsibility of all of the teachers at Sacred Heart School is to teach and assess their students during the regular classroom time. In addition, all of our teachers have after school hours each week when they are available to meet with students. This after school time is intended to provide support to students who need additional assistance with class work, homework, or projects. It is not a time for students simply doing their homework under the teacher's supervision or a babysitting service. (Siblings should not accompany students to a teacher's after-school hours.) Also, some students may need more assistance than can be provided during these after-school hours or during the regular class time. In such cases parents will need to hire a tutor or tutoring service to provide the necessary assistance.

Seventh and Eighth Grade Dance - Friday, Oct. 24th 6:30-9pm
Our first student council dance of the year is scheduled for next Friday, Oct. 24th from 6:30-9pm in the gym.
The theme is Halloween and students are encouraged to come in costume, but it is not required. Dance attire, including costumes worn, needs to follow the school's free dress code.
The ticket price is $10 per student which will be collected at the door.
A special thank you to our 7th grade CCCs for their assistance with this dance. As a reminder, parents are asked to come into the gym at the end of the dance to pick up their students rather than waiting outside. We look forward to seeing your students at the dance. Any questions should be directed to Ms. Gray
Upper Lot Morning Drop-Off
Thank you for your assistance in transitioning your students into a new school year. Your students are doing a great job getting to their classrooms every day. As we are approaching the end of October, I would like to ask families who have been walking their children to their classrooms to allow their children to walk themselves (with the exception of Pre-K). I realize that there are extenuating circumstances that may mean you need to walk your child to the classroom (e.g., you need to get a message to your child's teacher before the start of the school day, you are volunteering in the classroom). That being said, I think you will find that your children are ready for this next step. One of the K-2 teaching staff is out in front of the building every morning from 8:10-8:20am and then stands at the entrance door until 8:30am to make sure everyone gets in. All of our primary teachers are waiting for their students in their classrooms beginning at 8:20am.
Thank you in advance for your help with this transition and for all you do every day to help your children be successful. - Ms. Gray
Illness Prevention
Fall is here and with the weather's change often brings with it an increase in colds, viruses and the flu. Click Here for important information on the flu season: symptoms, how the flu spreads and how it can be prevented. In the hopes of keeping our students and staff healthy, we ask that you keep your students home whenever they have a fever and until they have fully recovered from the flu or illness. The prevention tips for flu also apply to how to prevent the getting sick with colds and viruses. Check out our health room page for more information on our illness policy and what is required in order for a student to have any medication at school.
