Emergency Contact System

Sacred Heart School sends out information about emergency closures via our school Twitter account. You can sign up to follow Sacred Heart School's Twitter account by texting "Follow SacredHeartSch" to the number 40404. By doing this you will receive emergency information as a text message on your phone within seconds of it being sent out. Signing up to follow SHS does not mean that you are signed up for a Twitter account. That is a separate procedure. You will only receive emergency information through this account. We will not use it to send any other kind of information. You may also want to have you child's nanny, grandparents, or anyone else who might pick up your child to follow us, too.

School Work during an Absence

It is the policy of Sacred Heart School not to provide homework in advance of a planned absence. However, we recommend that your child do one or more of the following during their absence if they are able to do so:

  • Do any regularly recurring work (e.g., Wordly Wise, Spelling workbook, Xtra Math or MathWhizz work).
  • Work on any long term assignments or projects (e.g., book report, science fair project, state report).
  • Study for upcoming tests and quizzes.
  • Access PowerSchool to see the homework posted during your absence.

Upon returning to school from an absence, the student has as many days to make up the missed work as the number of days he or she was absent. Please note: the due dates for long-term assignments do not change. If a long-term assignment was given before the absence occurred, the student is still responsible to turn in work on the due date, even if it is the day that he or she returns. Long-term projects that were due during the absence are due upon the student's return to school. - Mr. Burroughs

Photos of Students

It is the practice of Sacred Heart School to take frequent photographs of our students at events throughout the year, on the playground, and in their classrooms. These photographs are used on the school's website, Facebook page, reader board in the front lobby, and in various publications. Students are never identified in photographs by last name. Please send a message to Mr. Burroughs by October 8, 2014 if you do not want your child's photograph to be used in these ways. - Mr. Burroughs

ITBS/CogAT Testing

Standardized testing begins on October 20 for grades 2-8. Please avoid scheduling appointments during that time so that your child can be at school for testing. Also, please make sure that your child gets plenty of rest the night before testing and eats a good breakfast in the morning.

Illness Prevention

Fall is here and with the weather's change often brings with it an increase in colds, viruses and the flu. Click Here for important information on the flu season: symptoms, how the flu spreads and how it can be prevented. In the hopes of keeping our students and staff healthy, we ask that you keep your students home whenever they have a fever and until they have fully recovered from the flu or illness.  The prevention tips for flu also apply to how to prevent the getting sick with colds and viruses. Check out our health room page for more information on our illness policy and what is required in order for a student to have any medication at school.

School Directory Inserts

Please note the 2014-15 directory inserts were delivered on Wednesday, October 8th to your family's  youngest child through their classroom/homeroom teacher.  New families - if you do not have a blue Sacred Heart directory binder, they are available for you at the front desk.

From the Development Office

Why this approach?  Shortening our fundraising campaign saves us all time, money and repeated appeals and eliminates the need for on-going solicitations.

How does it work?  Make your pledge as early as possible. You will have until June 2015 to make payment on your pledge.

How much should you pledge?  Give as generously as possible and from your heart. Thank about what Sacred Heart School means to you and your family. Every gift matters, no matter the size.

Not sure how much you can commit to at this point in the year?  Make a pledge for what you know you can manage. You can always increase your pledge later in the school year.

Help us hit our goal of 100% Parent Participation by January 22. Click here to learn more about the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund and make your pledge today!
