Emergency Contact System

Sacred Heart School sends out information about emergency closures via our school Twitter account. You can sign up to follow Sacred Heart School's Twitter account by texting "Follow SacredHeartSch" to the number 40404. By doing this you will receive emergency information as a text message on your phone within seconds of it being sent out. Signing up to follow SHS does not mean that you are signed up for a Twitter account. That is a separate procedure. You will only receive emergency information through this account. We will not use it to send any other kind of information. You may also want to have you child's nanny, grandparents, or anyone else who might pick up your child to follow us, too.

Annual Vision & Hearing Screenings Scheduled for October 8-10, 2014

Our annual health screenings for Vision & Hearing are scheduled for October 8-10, 2014. WA State requires schools to conduct annual vision & hearing screenings for all students in grades K-3, 5 & 7.

If your child is in one of the grades scheduled for screening and you do not want your child to participate, you may opt out for all or part of the screenings. Please send an email to AnnMarie Thompson to request the "opt out" form for your completion.  Opt-Out forms must be returned to me by Thursday, October 2nd.

If your child is in Pre-K, 4, 6 or 8th grade, they are not scheduled to participate in this year's screenings. If you have concerns about their vision or hearing, you may send me an email with your concerns and request that your child be included in the one or both screenings.

Any child who does not meet the screening standards will be re-screened within 2 weeks for vision and 6 weeks for hearing. If after re-screening, the results still have failed to meet the standards, you will receive a copy of these results. Normal results will NOT be sent home.

The screening schedule is as follows:

         Wednesday, October 8:           3A, KB, 5B, 5A

         Thursday, October 9:              3B, 2B, 2A, 1B

         Friday, October 10:                 KA, 1A, 7th graders

All hearing and vision screenings are conducted by parents so we're looking for parents to volunteer to help out.

If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail our health screening coordinator, Brianna Bennitt.

If you have any questions about the health screening, please e-mail Ann Marie Thompson

Service Opportunity - We need students in 4th grade and above to help this Saturday from 9-11am!

Students and adult chaperones are still needed to support the Renewal Food Bank's food drive at the QFC on NE 8th in Bellevue on Saturday, September 27th. The shifts are two hours each, starting at 9am and running until 3pm. All student volunteers are asked to wear their school uniform (it helps with donations). Middle school students earn service hours for working at this event. Sign up using this link.

Safe Environment Refresher Courses

The Safe Environment online refresher courses are now available. Anyone who completed the Called to Protect for Ministries class prior to July of 2014 is currently due to take an online refresher course. This is an annual requirement that resets for everyone over the summer (so even if you did an online refresher course last spring, you are currently due to take another one). Click here for log-on instructions. In order to maintain your eligibility as a volunteer, it is important to stay up to date with your Safe Environment training.  Contact Amy Davis if you have any questions.

Volunteers

It is important that all volunteers check in at the mail office, sign in and wear a visitor badge. When you have completed your volunteer duties please sign out in the yellow visitor book at the front desk.

Student Conferences

Parent-Teacher-Student Conference will take place November 24th, 25th, and 26th. There will be no regular classes on those days. All students and their parent(s) are required to attend.

Sign-ups for primary grade conferences will be sent out by this Friday. Watch your email for a message. Middle school conferences will continue to be a drop-in program.

This year we are working to reach 100% of our Annual Fund goal ($225,000) within the first 100 days of school (January 22, 2015). To accomplish this goal, we need your help. The funds raised through the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund go to support increased school counseling services, Spanish curriculum throughout all grades, new textbooks and more. We strive to provide the highest quality catholic education to all students and we need your support.

We have currently received $22,120 toward the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund. Please be sure to send in your pledge payment or donation at your earliest convenience.

The Treasures of Faith Annual Fund is 100% tax deductible and is available for Employer Matching contributions. Please consider being a part of the financial mission of our school. You can donate today by clicking on this link:  Treasures of Faith. Or, you can drop a check at the front desk to the attention of the Annual Fund.
