May 30th Mass
This Friday will be our last Families mass of the year. To mark this special occasion, one person from each of our school families will have some kind of role in the mass!! As always, parents are encouraged to attend.
Joining us at the mass will be members of the Fulcrum Foundation Board. For those of you not familiar with Fulcrum, they raise money throughout the year to support Catholic education in our Archdiocese. In a special celebration at the end of mass, Fr. Steve will be presenting several of our 2nd and 3rd Cub Scouts with the Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei Religious Emblem Awards authorized by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. - Ms. Gray
Outstanding Teacher and Staff Awards
This year's Outstanding Staff and Teacher Awards will be presented after Mass tomorrow. All are invited and encouraged to join our students and staff in recognizing these terrific members of our school community.

Please Volunteer for SHS Field Day - Friday, June 6th
This year the SHS Field Day will be held on Friday, June 6th from 8:30am to 3:00pm. SHS Field day is a wonderful day of activities. The student families get to compete in a variety of fun events (volleyball, capture the flag, running relay, long jump, water relay, softball, soccer, kickball, and ping pong ball relay). It is a fantastic opportunity for the students to show their "Sportsmanship" and "Team Spirit" and for the parents to volunteer and participate in the fun!
We are looking for over 50 parent volunteers to assist with the day's activities, be event runners, and serve lunch.
Volunteer Shifts Available
Full Day - Morning and Afternoon Activities, Scorekeepers and Runners
8:15am to 11:30am - Morning Activities and Runners
11:30am to 12:30pm - Lunch Volunteers

Thank you in advance for your time and participation - Robert Treves
Field Day Reminders
Looking ahead at Field Day, it looks like we are going to have a beautiful day - mid 70s and only a 10% chance of rain! Don't forget to send your child with a labeled water bottle so they can stay hydrated during the day and please remember to apply sunscreen to your child before they leave for school; school staff are not allowed to do this. While Sacred Heart School is providing lunch, students are asked to provide their own snacks. Families are asked not to bring snacks with nuts or nut allergens. We are encouraging you to pack your students healthy snacks to give them energy throughout the day. (Please avoid sending candy, cookies or chips, we will have plenty of treats during lunch) Some fun ideas might be to make your own trail mix, popcorn without as much butter, graham crackers (check to make sure there are no nut allergens), frozen fruits, yogurt, etc.. I have seen some very healthy snacks and lunches, so I would encourage you to share with each other. There are also a lot of information available to families on the internet. Thank you in advance for helping to ensure the safety of all of our students.

Summer Skills
Math
By now, all of our K-7 parents should have received a letter from their class teacher, or Math teacher, explaining what we are expecting for Summer Math Review to make sure our students have the opportunity to practice and maintain the skills they have learned this year in Math; this information is also available on our website. Parents are asked to let their child's teacher know by the end of the school year, which option you are choosing for this summer.
Reading
We are finishing up the Summer Reading packets and will have the information for you in next week's FTH, as well as on our website.
If you have any questions about Sacred Heart's Summer Math, please contact Mrs. Lawler. Questions about Summer Reading can be directed to Ms. Gray.
New Middle School Teacher
I am happy to announce that Rachel McLellan will be joining our middle school team next year as a math and language arts teacher. Rachel comes to Sacred Heart School from the Huntington Learning Center in Bellevue. Before that she has taught science, social studies, math and language arts for more than ten years in high school and middle school. She has a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in education as well as teaching certifications in Florida, Georgia and Washington. Please welcome her to Sacred Heart School when you see her. - Mr. Burroughs
New Background Check Procedures
In an effort to better secure your personal information, the Archdiocese has switched to a new background check provider that does not require Social Security numbers. For that reason, it will be necessary for your identification (driver's license) to be checked when you submit background check paperwork to ensure that the name, address, and date of birth match those on the form. Existing background checks are still valid, so you will not be asked to fill out a new form until you are due for a three year update. Please contact Amy Davis with any questions.
Pack the Pack
Mr. Cunningham's Homeroom class is collecting new backpacks, school supplies, and socks for local migrant worker children in Skagit County.
As 7th Graders, we took part in a service retreat at a parish in Burlington, and this year we decided to continue our social justice service to the children of the community.
Donations are greatly appreciated! If you are able, we are asking for new socks, new backpacks, and/or cash donations to help a cause that we believe is important in our greater community.
Donations can be collected Donations can be collected at the main office. Please label them: "Mr. Cunningham's Homeroom Pack the Pack Drive". Please make any checks payable to Sacred Heart School. Thank you for your help!

Reserved Parking Spaces
Although there are only a few weeks left in the school year, I want to remind everyone that the spaces marked as reserved for the Lincoln and Vipond families are reserved for them 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Please do not use these spaces even for "just a few minutes." We have three spaces between them designated for short-term parking. If those are full, please find another parking spot in the upper or lower lot. These families have generously purchased these parking spaces at the auction. When other people use them (and the Lincoln and Vipond families cannot use them) it makes their spaces worth less at the next auction, which costs the school money. Please be considerate and do not park in these reserved spaces.
Thank you for understanding. - Mr. Burroughs
Lost and Found
Please take a moment to come into the school and check the Lost and Found closet for any unmarked clothing that may belong to your family. It is extremely full and we will be donating most unclaimed items to the CARE program in Tukwila on Saturday, June 7th.
