Emergency Information Survey
I want to thank everyone, parents and staff, for your patience and cooperation with our school closure on Tuesday. While the event is still fresh in your mind, we ask that you take a very brief, four-question online survey about contacting you in an emergency. Your feedback will help us to improve our emergency contact system. - Mr. Burroughs

December Shoe Liturgy - TOMORROW
Please DO NOT forget to bring a pair of shoes.
Some specifics we would ask you to remember and details to honor are:
- Shoes stay in the original box
- Do not wrap the box
- Do not include any candy, or other edible items. The warehouse utilized by Treehouse is not air conditioned and items have melted, soiling the shoes. If you wish to include something, we recommend including a pair of socks
- Size: purchase a pair of shoes that fits your students.
Please do not hesitate to email me any questions you might have about this great tradition. We hope to see you at our Tenth Annual Shoe Liturgy.
Blessings - Ms Gray
Advent Concert: Stories of Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany
All students in Kindergarten through 8th grade participate in the Advent Concert. This year, the performance is on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30PM in the Church. All students must arrive no later than 6:00pm and meet in their classroom (homeroom for middle school).
Concert attire: Students should be dressed nicely, like what they would wear for a picture with Santa Claus or for a family Christmas card. Acceptable clothing includes slacks, skirts, dresses, button-up shirts, blouses, polo shirts, etc. Please do not wear jeans, high heeled shoes, or hats. Jewelry, neck-ties, and bow-ties make great festive accessories.
Lost and Found
Our closet is completely full of unmarked clothing and items. Please take a moment over next week (December 2-6) to look for any of your child's missing items. On December 7th, all unclaimed clothing will go to a wonderful program called CARE that services refugee families relocated into the Tukwila school district. As always, marked uniform pieces are sent back to your students via their classrooms and unmarked uniform pieces are placed directly into our used uniform closet.

Hot Lunch Program Change
Due to recurring service issues with Blue Plate Express, they will cease serving hot lunches at Sacred Heart School at the end of the calendar year. We have already begun setting up interviews for a new hot lunch provider, and I am confident that we will have a great new program in place as soon as we return to school after the Christmas Break. I am sorry if this causes any inconvenience for you or your family. - Mr. Burroughs

Outerwear Reminder
As we head into these winter months (okay, long winter months!), please remember to send your children to school with some kind of outwear for recess - a coat, fleece, heavy sweatshirt, etc. Students are not allowed to stay in the building because they are cold. We have heard from some of you that your children do have jackets and sweatshirts, sometimes more than one, but they are not wearing them. We appreciate your help at home and will continue to remind students here as well to grab their coats or sweatshirts before they head outside.
Jimmy John's Ordering
When placing an order for your children, please be sure to place your order by 11:30am for delivery by lunch time. After 11:30am orders may be delayed up to an hour.
Safe Environment
Please make sure you are up to date with your Safe Environment training. Many of our parents and volunteers are due for an online refresher course and/or need to sign off on the policy packet. Materials & instructions are available here. Please e-mail Amy Davis if you have any questions about your obligations.
Absent Students
If your student will miss any days due to illness or vacation please email Kerry Wyman and your student's Home Room teacher.
Pre-K and Kindergarten applications
As current SHS families, it is time to send in your application(s) for these two grade levels.
- For Pre-K: In order to secure your priority slot in Pre-K 2014, we need to receive your application, a signed letter of intent, and 1st month's tuition of $440 no later than Friday, December 13th. For those of you that have already submitted your applications, a letter of intent will be emailed to you on Friday, November 22nd. If you are interested in Pre-K but have not yet applied, please do so right away and we will send you a letter of intent immediately upon receipt.
- For Kindergarten: We have set our Kindergarten assessment dates for January 23-25th. In order to secure your preferred time slot, we will need your application in hand and will start booking assessment times/dates once we get back from Christmas break on Wednesday, January 8th.
Please try to have your application in by no later than Friday, December 20th accordingly. If you have a student currently in Pre-K, we do not need an application from you and we will automatically schedule their assessment time during their regular school day here at SHS.
SHS Science Fair Needs You!
Sacred Heart School's Annual Science Fair is scheduled for March 6th, 8am-3pm, and we are in great need of S.T.E.M. Professionals and/or Educators - adults engaged in, or retired from, a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics - to serve as judges for student projects.
Ideally, we will pair an industry professional with an educator to assess and score individual student projects; to ensure ample time to judge and tally results, we hope to secure at least 30 judges for the day. Lunch will be provided.
If you are interested, or know someone who may be interested in volunteering, please contact us.
