Talent Show Lunch

Our annual talent show will take place at lunch TOMORROW.

It's shaping up to be a terrific show and all families are invited to attend. As in the past, the students will be sitting on the floor to eat. Please do not send a lunch for your child that needs to be heated or needs hot water. There will be too many people in the gym for the microwave and hot water dispenser to be used. Also, in order to keep our time together safe for our students with allergies please do not send any peanut butter or food containing nuts or peanuts in your child's lunch on that day. Thank you. - Mr. Burroughs

Trunk or Treat

Our first Trunk or Treat was a huge success last week. I think that was easily the best new family event at SHS in a long time. We want to thank everyone who participated, especially those families who decorated their cars (75+) and distributed candy. There were so many fun and imaginative displays.

This year's Grand Prize Winner was The Beckers (Annie, 6th grade) - Christmas Village

Honorable Mentions:

Doug and Patty Cook (Jenny, 5th ) - Ghost Guts

Maria Danieli-Krueger and Jeffrey Krueger (Siena, 4th) - Scary truck

Brian and Liz Quinn (Josie, 4th and Ellie, 2nd) - Pirates

Bryan and Amy Williams (Sophia, 4th and Scarlett, 1st) - Pirates

Robert and Julie Treves (Kelly, 6th; Rachel, 4th; Hayden 2nd and Brody, 1st) - Spider

Kenneth and Panravee Fernando (Triana, 3rd; Keira, 1st and Leah, PK) - Zoo

William and Julie Cunningham (Buck, 2A and Cole, KA) - World Series

Larry and Megan Stott (Skylar, K) - Strawberry Shortcake

We also want to thank Julie Huard and Megan Weitz for leading this event and getting it off to a terrific start, and Roxane Barkley for all her support for Trunk or Treat through the Parents' Club.

 - Mr. Burroughs and Ms. Gray

Sick of all that Halloween Candy???

The VFW donation box will be in the front office until tomorrow & then it is headed to the desert!!

The England Family will collect your unwanted Halloween candy & ship it to the Troops in Afghanistan.  Our local VFW sends about 100 boxes of donated goods to the Troops on the front lines every month & we like to remind them of home as much as we can.  This is the best time of the year to ship chocolate so drop all your extra candy in the VFW Halloween box in the front office this Friday.  Feel free to also drop cards/letters/drawings for the soldiers in too.

Monday is Veterans Day!

Half Day ESS

Wednesday, November 27th, is a half day with dismissal at 11:45. ESS will be available from 11:45-3:15 for those who sign up. Please email Amy Davis if you would like your student to attend.

Pre-K 2014-2015

It is time to apply for our amazing program.   Please know that siblings of our current families have priority to get into our Pre-K but we need to know that you want your child in the program.  Please take a moment right away to fill out an application (available online under the admissions tab) or hard copy at the front desk.  Please either mail or drop it off at the front desk along with the $25 fee by November 22nd and your family will be assured to be in the 1st round of consideration for 2014-2015 Pre-K.   You will then be automatically included in the final step of the process to secure your spot which will include signing/returning a letter of intent and a providing a non-refundable deposit (around $420) that will be applied toward your total tuition due for the 2014-2015 school year.  Please feel free to email Susana Knapp if you have any questions.

Car stickers are available in the front office again. Stop by to get yours today!

After School Academic Assistance

All of our teachers have at least two days each week after school set aside to help students who are struggling either with a particular assignment or with a subject (many also meet with students before school and/or during lunch). In order to ensure that this time is used effectively, please do not send students for after school academic assistance who are not in that teacher's class (i.e., siblings). Siblings who are not in that class will be sent to ESS. Also, please do not send students to their class as just a place to start on homework. The teachers are there to provide specific help for students who need it. Thank you for your cooperation. - Mr. Burroughs

Open House - November 12th

Sacred Heart's annual Open House will be held this year on Tuesday, November 12th from 5:30-7pm. This is a great opportunity for you to invite friends, neighbors, and relatives to come and see our school community. Prospective families will have the opportunity to learn more about our school and the admissions process. The evening will include guided campus tours and teachers in grades pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1-5th grades will be available to speak to families about their programs. Please contact Susana Knapp if you know a family interested in SHS as she would love to speak with them, personally send them an invitation, and watch for them that evening. Training will take place earlier that same day and she will let you know details accordingly.

Treasures of Faith - Sacred Heart School Annual Fund

As you may (or may not) have noticed, in the back of your School Directory there is a section labeled "Fundraising and Giving". In this section, you will find everything you need to know about your fundraising options, the Gala Auction, along with the Annual Fund and Endowment.

I want to take a moment to bring to your attention the Annual Fund. For the first time, our Annual Fund is undergoing a "makeover", starting with the name. The Treasures of Faith Annual Fund gives you the opportunity to support Sacred Heart School in a way that is intentional. This fund is necessary for our annual operating budget and allows us to continue to provide a high-quality Catholic education to our students. Your gift to the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund is for the benefit of ALL families seeking Catholic education for their children. Whether you are paying the full tuition amount as a non-Catholic family or paying the parishioner rate, please know that we are working hard to keep tuition affordable to all. Gifts to the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund help to make this possible.

Your gift to the Annual Fund is 100% tax deductible and is also available for corporate matching. Please take a moment to read through the information in your directory or email Theresa Daigle, , for more information.
