Lower Lot Drop-off

Lately we have had some morning where the drop-off line in the lower parking lot backs up onto 14th. We want to avoid this as it creates an unsafe and irritating situation for our school families and the neighbors. Observing the following procedures when dropping-off your child in the morning will help to keep everything moving faster and safely.

  • The lead car should pull all the way forward to the staff member who is directing traffic in the morning before stopping which will be about 20 feet past the middle school doors.
  • Remind your child to be packed and ready to exit before your stop your car.
  • Please have your children exit your vehicle on the left side whenever possible so that they do not have to cross the line of cars.
  • If they must cross the line of cars, please remind them to cross in front of your car, as you will know to be looking for them when they cross.
  • Please do not stop to drop off students until you have reached the dumpsters/basketball hoop.
  • If you need to park, please wait for direction from the staff person on duty before crossing the line of cars.

Fall Goal Setting Conferences

The dates for our Fall Goal Setting Conferences have been set for Thursday, Oct. 24th with the first conference being at 11:30am and the last conference starting at 7:05pm. Friday, October 25th with the first conference being at 9:00am and the last conference starting at 3:15pm. Please note, while students in 1st - 8th are expected to attend conferences with their parents, there is no school on these days.  Please click here for more detailed information.

October is the Month of the Holy Rosary

Take this opportunity to pray together as a family. What if you've never prayed the Rosary or haven't in a long time? Do you feel like you can't make the time? Try this simple guide. Try praying together one decade each night. The best way to teach our children about the importance of our faith is to pray together with them. - Mr. Burroughs and Ms. Gray

ITBS/CogAT Testing

ITBS/CogAT Testing concludes on Wednesday, Oct. 30th; although some classes may finish before then.  We appreciate your trying to avoid making appointments until after your child/ren has finished testing.  Please continue to make sure your children get plenty of rest and a healthy snack on testing days.  -  Ms. Gray

Choosing a Saint?

All Saints Day is around the corner and you might be wondering what saint to study, want to learn more about the saint you have chosen for the Saints Parade (PK-3) or want to learn more about saints in general. Consider the Sacred Heart School Library! Library Home Page,

or click on the catalog tab and see what saint books are available for check out.  Also, feel free to stop by the library to browse or ask questions. Happy researching! - Mrs. Hooper

Permission to Walk Home

Because we are concerned with the safety of your children, the parent of every child who walks home, to the bus stop, or anywhere else outside of school grounds, will now be required to complete and sign the Walk Home Permission form Walk Home Permission Form and then return it to the school office. This form allows your child(ren) to walk home without adult supervision.  Please note, students in K-3 will not be allowed to work home without a parent-approved older sibling or adult.

Called to Protect for Parents and Families

This class will be offered November 6th at 6:00 p.m. at St. Louise Church in Bellevue. THIS CLASS DOES NOT SATISFY ANY TRAINING REQUIREMENT FOR EMPLOYMENT OR VOLUNTEER SERVICE. It is intended for parents who do not volunteer with children but are interested in finding out more information about how to protect children from abuse. You can register for this class by clicking here.

Are you a Eucharistic Minister? Would you like to help serve at school Masses?

We are currently building our list of parents and grandparents who are Eucharistic ministers and are able to attend some or all of the school Masses. Please let us know if you can serve by e-mailing Ms. Gray. If you would like to help but aren't yet trained, she can help you get signed up for a class.

Annual Vision & Hearing Screenings

Our annual health screenings for Vision and Hearing will be

conducted on November 18, 19 and 21.  WA State designates that schools conduct vision and hearing screenings for all students in grades K-3, 5 and 7.

  • If your child is scheduled for screenings and you *DO NOT* want your child to participate, please send an email to Ann Marie Thompson to request the "opt out" form for your completion.
  • If your child is in Pre-K, 4, 6 or 8th grade and therefore not scheduled to be screened but you have concerns, please send Ann Marie Thompson an email with your concerns and request that your child be included in the screenings.

Any child who does not meet the screening standards will be re-screened within 2 weeks for vision and 6 weeks for hearing. If after re-screening, the results still have failed to meet the standards, you will receive a copy of these results. Normal results will NOT be sent home.

The screening schedule is as follows:

Monday, Nov 18 morning:  KA, KB, 5A, 5B

Tuesday, Nov 19 morning: 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B

Thursday Nov 21 morning: 3A, 3B

Thursday Nov 21 afternoon:  7th graders

All hearing and vision screenings are conducted by parents so we're looking for parents to volunteer to help out.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email our health screening coordinator, Brianna Bennitt

If you have any other questions about the health screening, please email Ann Marie Thompson

Microsoft Giving

October is the month of giving at Microsoft Corporation and they are making it even easier for you to support Sacred Heart School. Microsoft is offering to match Volunteer Service Hours by paying $17/per hour for every hour volunteered, with only a minimum of four hours. Many of our parents are CYO coaches or volunteers for recess duty, the health room or library - this is another great way to give back to Sacred Heart School by continuing to do what you already do! Simply click on this link to log your volunteer hours.

As always, thank you for thinking of Sacred Heart School for your time, talent and treasure. If you have any questions, please e-mail Theresa Daigle, Development Director, or call 425-451-1773 ext. 107.
