After School Student Pick-up, Grades K and 1
For the safety of our students we have made some changes to pick-up time.
- Please wait to pick up your child in the patio area near the statue of Mary.
- Please get out of your car to pick up your child.
- Please do not wait under the metal awning near the front doors as students will not be able to exit the building.
- Please do not stand with your child in the parking lot (you are welcome to gather in other parts of the patio area to talk) or allow your child to play in the parking lot.
- The big toy in the upper lot is closed after school as it is used by ESS. The big toy in the lower parking lot is available after 3:30pm (once pick-up time is over).
- Only students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade (and their siblings) and students who are permanently or temporarily disabled should be picked up in the upper lot. All others (grades 2-8) are to be picked up in the lower lot.
Food Delivery Orders
Over the course of the year, many parents place orders for food to be delivered to the school for their child's lunch (often from Jimmy John's). This is fine. We do not mind receiving or distributing them. However, it is unfair for deliveries to not include a tip for the driver. So, when we sign for deliveries, the receipt will be checked for a tip. If no tip has been included a tip of $1 per sandwich (for easy calculation) will be added to the total before it is signed. - Mr. Burroughs
Family Life Parent Meetings
As we introduce a Family Life program to the school this year (as required by archdiocesan policy), we want to give our parents the opportunity to review the materials, ask questions about the program, and ask any questions about Catholic teaching related to family life matters (marriage, sexuality, vocations, etc.). We will hold two information sessions on Monday, September 23 from 6:30-7:30 pm and Tuesday, September 24 from 8:30-9:30 am. Both meetings will take place in the Moore Theater. The textbooks that we will be using and all teaching related to this program will conform to the teachings of the Catholic Church. If you would like to review the materials or ask questions and are unable to make it to one of the meetings, please contact Ms. Gray or Mr. Burroughs.
Emergency Notifications
In the event of an emergency closing of the school, parents and staff will be notified through a posting to the homepage of the school's website and a notification through the school's Twitter account. Our Twitter account is only used for emergency notifications. You can follow Sacred Heart School on Twitter by texting: "follow SacredHeartSch" to 40404. You do not need to follow anyone else on Twitter to sue this account. You should receive a confirmation message within a few minutes letting you know that you have been successful in signing up. You may also receive an invitation to follow other various celebrities on Twitter, but you can ignore that message (unless you want to start following other accounts).
Safe Environment Training "Called to Protect for Ministries"
The Safe Environment "Called to Protect for Ministries" class will be offered here at Sacred Heart Parish on Wednesday, September 11, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Moore Theater. All parents who volunteer at the school and have contact with children must take this class within 90 days of beginning their service. All volunteers who have previously taken this class must complete an annual online update. To register for this class or complete an online annual update, click here.
Picture Opt-out
Sacred Heart School staff and parents regularly photograph events and activities around the school, including in the classroom. Most of these pictures are for personal use or archival purposes. However, some photos are used in promotional materials or other publications of the school (including the school website). Student photos are never identified by name without specific parent permission.
If you *do not* want your child's photograph used in school publications or promotional materials, please contact Kerry Wyman by September 13th to opt-out.
Asbestos Compliance
Once a year, federal law mandates school administrators to inform parents and employees about local school compliance with the Asbestos Hazardous Materials Response Act (AHERA). Please click here to view the memo confirming our school's compliance of this law.
