State of the School Meeting

All parents are encouraged to attend our annual State of the School Meeting next Thursday from 6-7 p.m. in the Moore Theater. Among other things will be reviewing this year's accomplishments, discussing next year's accreditation process and the self study, discussing next year's calendar and schedule, announcing the winners of the Teacher and Staff Member of the Year awards, and more. A wine and cheese reception, sponsored by the Parents' Club, will take place before the event. We appreciate your participation and feedback at this meeting as we discuss the future of our school community.

Grandparent's Day, May 10, 2013

All RVSP's are due online by May 3rd.

After this date, we will not be able to accommodate your guests due to restrictions in the fire code. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

We look forward to meeting all of the grandparents/grandfriends on May 10th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Theresa Daigle in the Development office.

Grateful Givings for our Troops

Sacred Heart School is working with Grateful Givings and the U.S.O. to help support our troops. From May 6th-May 15th, students are asked to being items that help ease the travelling burdens of troops as they go to and from their important work in the military. Items include: disposable razors, travel-sized deodorant, travel-sized tooth paste, toothbrushes, granola bars, NutriGrain bars, hot chocolate pouches, and tea bags. Collection boxes will be in each classroom and a more complete list of items will be sent home during the drive. Please consider donating at least one item to help.

Mass Time Change for Next Year

In order to maximize our learning time next year, Fr. Steve will be changing the Friday Mass time from 9:00am to 8:45am. This will allows us to make better use of our Friday mornings between Mass and recess, especially for the middle school. In addition, every Friday morning from 8:45am to 9:45am will be reserved for a school Mass, assembly, or family group meeting. This schedule will enable us to avoid using other instructional time for assemblies and family group meetings, once again maximizing instructional time for our students.

Usborne Book Fair is Coming!

Visit the fair at the school library on May 8, 9, and 10!

Usborne offers quality nonfiction and fiction selections!

Browse the selection online.

Purchases made at the fair and also through this link benefit Sacred Heart School!

Service Opportunity

Sacred Heart Church is in need of additional altar servers. For middle school students, altar serving counts towards your community service hours. Please contact the parish office to find out about training opportunities or to get on the altar server schedule if you are already trained.

Placement Request Policy (rev. January 2013)

The administration and staff of Sacred Heart School has revised our Placement Request Policy effective January, 2013.   We are now requiring families to complete a Placement Request form and provide specific academic and/or behavioral needs that justify their request for a specific teacher for their child.  The Placement Requests needs to be completed and returned to the Vice Principal by Friday, May 24th.  Requests made directly to classroom teachers will be forwarded to the administration so the Placement Request form can be completed.  Requests received after May 24th will not be considered. Requests received by the May 24th deadline will be carefully considered as class lists are made; although, it is not possible to honor all requests.  Our goal is to create classrooms that are balanced academically, emotionally and socially.

Renewal Food Bank

The Renewal Food Bank of Bellevue is currently distributing food out of a temporary location at the Highland Covenant Church near the Crossroads Mall. They are still actively searching for a permanent location in order to continue to serve more than 250 hungry families each week. They would appreciate any leads you might have about a location. Please contact Mr. Burroughs if you have ideas for a location. The ideal location would be close to a bus route, near either the Crossroads or Factoria area, and have 1200-1300 square feet of space for food storage and distribution.  Thank you for your help. - Mr. Burroughs

Half Day ESS

Grandparent's Day, May 10th, is a half day with dismissal at noon. ESS will be available from 12-3pm for those who sign up. Space is limited, so please email Amy Davis to reserve a spot if you would like your child to attend.

From the Development Office

As parents, your long-term investment in your child's education will reap rewards for many years to come. You can also make a difference to his/her education today by making a gift to the Sacred Heart School Annual Fund. Tuition and fees only cover approximately 70 percent of the cost of educating your child(ren). The Annual Fund and income from the endowment provide the rest. Your gifts to the Annual Fund benefit your child(ren) as well as every student enrolled at SHS.

One-hundred percent participation is the goal for each school year. Each family is encouraged to participate by making a gift or a pledge at whatever level is comfortable for them. Gifts of all sizes make a difference. Currently, we are only 50% of our budgeted goal for the 2012-2013 school year. Remember, payment on your pledge is due by June 3, and our fiscal year runs from July 1 - June 30 . For more information, please contact

in the Development office.

 - Thank you for supporting this most important endeavor.

  • Jog-a-thon is a great fundraiser at 80% return to SHS and your balance.  Jog-a-thon is scheduled for 5/7, and is already set and ready to take your donations.
  • Scrip and Magazine are also available for your convenience.

*Also, we have discovered that our electronic system is unable to track the PCC reloadable card.  If this effects your family please e-mail Angela Taylor so we might be able to give your family proper credit.
