It's time to honor excellence in our community at Sacred Heart!  Please fill out your nominations for Distinguished Teacher & Staff of the year for 2012/13 and return to the school office by March 15, 2013.  Alternately, you can email your forms to Joanne Barber.  Forms are available at the front desk as well as through this link(forms will include lists of eligible teachers and staff)

Thank you for your support in recognizing outstanding achievement within our community!

New Big Toy

As promised, the new big toy has been installed in the lower lot. This great new piece of equipment was made possible by your generous support of our fundraising last year.

In addition, I also want to thank Julie Chandler and Joanne Barber for spearheading the process of selecting, ordering, and purchasing the new big toy as well as Robert Chandler and his crew for saving the school a lot of time and money by demolishing the old yellow big toy in preparation.

Finally, I am grateful to the maintenance team here at Sacred Heart for their part in installation and preparation of the new big toy. - Mr. Burroughs

Registration information for 2013-2014

Both returning *and* new families will register for 2013-2014 school year through our on-line process (same as last year) which will take place in March.  You will receive emailed instructions in March which will walk you through the steps.  Feel free to e-mail or call Susana Knapp if you have any questions or concerns.  425-451-1773 ext. 156.

Important addition to "Contributing Parishioner Rate" Policy

As you know, in order to receive the "Contributing Parishioner Rate," families must be registered at Sacred Heart Parish, have a 2013 Stewardship Commitment Pledge Card on file at the parish, and be making reasonable progress toward fulfilling their pledge. Also note this new requirement: The registering student must be baptized Catholic at time of registration or have a plan for baptism or reception into the Catholic Church through the RCIA program organized with the parish at time of registration in order for the family to receive the "Contributing Parishioner Rate."

If you have any questions or concerns about this new requirement,

please contact David Burroughs at 425-451-1773 ext 113.

Parish Staff Changes

As you may know from the parish bulletin, this weekend will be Sr. Mary Jo's last weekend here at Sacred Heart as a part of the parish staff. There will be opportunities to say farewell after each of the Masses this weekend. We are very grateful to her for all of her assistance with school Masses and other sacramental celebrations among other contributions (like her performance in the school's production of A Christmas Carol). We will miss her.

Emily LaHood, the interim youth minister, has been hired as a permanent employee. If your middle or high school students is not yet participating in the weekly youth group activities that she leads on Wednesdays, they are missing out! - Mr. Burroughs

Lost and Found

Our closet has finally maxed out with un-marked clothing so it is time to donate our items accordingly. Please take a moment (or ask your child) to go to the gym foyer to check the articles of clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. as we will be donating unclaimed items on Friday, March 8th.  Note that small and high value items are held at the front desk by Kerry Wyman. - Susana Knapp

Limited Morning ESS on March 8th

Due to the Science Fair on Friday, March 8th, morning ESS will take place in the library instead of the gym. Drop off will be at the exterior library door instead of the North entrance. Since we will have less space, morning ESS will only be available for families on the full time plan. Thank you for your flexibility & we apologize for the inconvenience.

An opportunity to start an Adventure with Cub Scouts is coming to an area near you!

Cub Scouts if a program through the Boy Scouts of America for boys 1st through 5th grade (7-11 years old) where your son will learn new skills, gain self-confidence and develop strong friendships that will last a lifetime all while having fun and meeting challenges. On March 4th at 7pm we will be having a meeting for all families interested in getting their sons involved in the Cub Scout program with the Boy Scouts of America. The meeting will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue in room 303. There will be signs posted to lead you to the room.

If you would like more information or want to take on a leadership role now

please e-mail Kenna Burch. For more information on the program follow this link.

Leadership: There are two types of leaders we are looking for to help run this new Cub Scout Pack- organization orientated people and program orientated people.

To start out with for Cub Scouts we'll need two program orientated people- a Cubmaster and a Den Leader.

- The Cubmaster is the person who plans program for boys once a month at the Pack* meeting. These activities can range from having a firefighter come speak to the group to having a Pinewood Derby race. Pack meetings happen once a month and are usually in place of the Den meeting. The Cubmaster is the leader of the Pack and helps the other parents involved in the program side of Cub Scouts i.e. the Den Leaders.

- A Den Leader is another program focused person who plans outings, program, and ties in Cub Scout related Advancement to their Den** meetings. A Den Leader usually has a boy in their own Den, i.e. the Tiger Cub Den Leader has a 1st grade son. Den meetings can happen once a week or once a month depending on how open Cub Scout parents' schedules are. We prefer to have a Den Leader identified for each Den (Tiger, Bear, Wolf, and Webelo), but usually if we just have one Den Leader identified parents will take on roles in their own Den for one or two meetings and it works itself out quickly.
