Inform~Inspire~Connect

The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence believes that by sharing expertise,

advocates and legislators can end domestic violence. Every day we inspire, inform and

connect all of those working on this issue, because together we're stronger.

Federal Update
VAWA Reauthorization -- Action Needed!VAWA

On Friday, February 22, Republican House leadership introduced a bill to reauthorize VAWA (a substitute to the bipartisan Senate Bill 47).  This bill fails to adequately support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and it leaves out a number of critical provisions that are needed to ensure that victims have access to much-needed services and support.

The House may vote on their bill as early as this Wednesday, February 27th.  The Partnership stands with NNEDV and other organizations in urging members of Congress to vote against this bill as it currently stands.

Call the Capitol switchboard at 888.269.5702 and ask the operator to connect you to your Representative. Tell your Representative that this bill does not adequately serve all victims nor effectively meet their needs, and therefore you urge him/her to vote against the bill in its current form. You can look up your House Member here.
