WDSRA Athlete to Lead Parade

 

Ryne Stolarz WDSRA Special Olympics athlete Ryne Stolarz is a co-parade marshal for Wheaton's 4th of July parade. Ryne is being honored for his selection to the Special Olympics World Games being held in Los Angeles July 25th- August 2nd.  He shares the honor with

Ken Carlson of Carlson Glass and Mirror.  

If you don't know Ryne, just look for the fellow with the huge smile in the car leading the parade! Be sure to wave to him!

Join WDSRA at the Wheaton 4th of July Parade

 

4th of July parade fun You can find WDSRA at the Wheaton parade Saturday, July 4th.  Why not join us? Families are invited to walk the parade, hand out candy (we supply), and wave to family and friends along the way. Show your support of WDSRA and be a part of the parade excitement.

 

Simply look for the WDSRA float at Main and Parkway Sts. before the parade steps off. There is no fee. You'll receive a commemorative parade tshirt too.   

Schaumburg Boomers Host Sports Clinic  

 

Schaumburg Boomers logo The Schaumburg Boomers are hosting a sports clinic for children of all ages. You'll get the chance to run skills and drills with some of the Boomers and then take the field for a game. You'll even get a chance to meet and greet some of the members of the 2015 All Star team and the Boomers mascot too!

Play Specialist Positions Open   

   

Become a WDSRA Lekotek Play Specialist! We are looking for enthusiastic, engaging individuals with a passion for working with children with special needs and experience in early childhood to join our new Lekotek team. Lekotek is a family 

based program that teaches purposeful play to families of children with special needs 0-8 years old in conjunction with toy lending.

Play Specialists will:

  • Conduct monthly one hour family play sessions to assist in the child's growth and development of goals 
  • Receive specialized training and certification from the National Lekotek Center 

This position is 19 hours per week and hours are flexible. Play sessions will take place in all nine communities served by WDSRA with the main Lekotek play room and library located at the Naperville Park District 95th St. Center.

'Name that Bus' Facebook Contest! 

 

question mark graphic What's in a name? Here is your chance to name two NEW vehicles coming to WDSRA. Charity and Dottie (yes, those are two of our buses) are retiring. Two new buses will be arriving shortly. They will join the WDSRA fleet including: Lightening, Junior, Vito, Bubba and Snowhite.

 

But they need a name. So we are launching a 'Name that Bus' campaign on Facebook. We want you to suggest names for the buses. All suggestions must come through the WDSRA Facebook page. There may even be a summer prize bag for the two names selected!

Special Needs Swim Night at Centennial Beach 

 

Centennial Beach logo Families with individuals who have special needs are invited to enjoy a relaxing evening after the regular operating hours of Centennial Beach. The shallow end of the slide will be open too.

Sundays, July 5th & 26th
6:30-8pm

Centennial Beach
500 W. Jackson Ave., Naperville 

 

No registration is required. Cost is $3 per person at the door or you may apply your membership toward entry. You do not need to be a Naperville resident to participate.

Sky Zone Offers Special Needs Nights

 

Sky Zone Logo The first Monday of each month is sensory-friendly Special Needs Nights at Sky Zone Trampoline Park! They'll turn off the music and dial down the distractions for the comfort of jumpers. Children and adults with special needs, their siblings, families, and friends are welcome to jump. Every effort will be made to accommodate all jumpers with any kind of special needs.
