Volunteers Rally for Comcast Cares Day!

comcast cares day selfie THANK YOU to everyone involved with Comcast Cares Day, Saturday, April 25th. Over 80 volunteers from Comcast and WDSRA tackled several indoor and outdoor projects as well as a clean up of Carol Stream Park District's Community Park.

Spurred on by the same spirit of volunteerism, Girl Scout Troop #50034 made sponge balls for summer camps and The Growing Place donated a rose bush. Kramer Tree Specialists, Inc. donated the mulch and trimmed healthy trees and removed dead ones.

Thank you to everyone who spent that cold, damp Saturday morning with us cleaning, shoveling, stuffing, washing and more! Special thanks to Comcast for: selecting WDSRA as a

recipient, providing supplies, bringing in breakfast and lunch, giving out tshirts and even making a monetary donation!

Volunteers Go BIG at Track Meet

photo of volunteer at the track meet Representatives from Exelon Corporation, the Knights of Columbus #15037 and several individuals, 45 volunteers in all, lent their support at the Annual Track and Field Meet. The meet was held at North Central College Sunday, April 12th.

Volunteers helped with starting and timing, the bull pen, measuring the field events, announcing and awards. They were the arms, legs, and smiling faces that allowed us to manage the spring Track and Field Meet with over 200 Special Olympics athletes in attendance.

Thank you all!
