Here's what you need to know:
Who: Novice and experienced kiln operators, as well as yard, sales, purchasing, marketing and manufacturing managers will all benefit from the topics covered in this workshop.
What: Instruction by university professors and industry experts both in the classroom and with hands-on exercises using SUNY-ESF's modern kiln.
When: January 7-10, 2013 (check out the agenda here)
Where: Baker Lab, SUNY-ESF Campus, Syracuse, NY (get information on reduced rate lodging options here)
Why: This course will provide practical knowledge about how wood is effectively kiln dried and scientific background on related wood properties and drying processes.
How Much: Registration is $475/person for registrations received by December 21, 2012, which includes lunch and breaks each day, as well as dinner on Monday, January 7, 2013. The Watershed Agricultural Council will fully reimburse this registration fee for any forest products company based in the Catskills region (Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan or Ulster Counties in New York) who attends the workshop. Travel and lodging costs must be paid by the business. You can register online here, and please also email Josh VanBrakle at the Watershed Agricultural Council if you plan to attend so we know who to reimburse. WAC will verify attendance from a registrant list provided by SUNY-ESF. Businesses eligible for reimbursement can expect a check within 30 days following the workshop.
