I have made several Principal appointments to schools for the 2014-15 school year, including: B.F. Day, NorthgateHighland ParkLaurelhurst, North Beach, Sacajawea and Fairmount Park elementary schools; as well as Thurgood Marshall School; Broadview-Thomson K-8; and K-5 STEM at Boren. Members sought for School Family Partnerships task force

'Open Mic' night set for April 22, 23 on special education services

 

Meeting set for May 13 to present information on new elementary, middle schools on Wilson-Pacific site

A new elementary and middle school are scheduled to open for the 2017-18 school year. You are invited to attend a community meeting 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, at the Wilson-Pacific building's SeaMat Center where information will be shared about the project and the schools' designs.

Ballard High School student Leo Pfeifer won second place in a nationwide student-documentary competition and was recognized April 4 at the school. Pfeifer won for his video, "A Sleeping Giant," which addresses the issue of gun control.

Wedgwood teacher named Civic Educator of the Year

Fourth-grade teacher Kelly Clark, who has taught at Wedgwood Elementary School since 1996, is the winner of the prestigious "2014 Civic Educator of the Year Award." The award is sponsored by the Washington State Legislature to honor outstanding instructors in civics education.

Students attending high school or middle school throughout the Puget Sound region are invited to get a taste of computer science and basic programming at Puget Sound App Day 2014, set for Friday, May 23 at Rainier Beach High School. App Day is a programming event where students learn to create apps and games on their mobile devices.
