Thank you, Seattle!

On behalf of the nearly 50,000 students at Seattle Public Schools, thank you for your overwhelming support for the renewal of the Operations Levy and the Capital Levy. Because of these levies, our students will have safe, high-quality classrooms and buildings, and our schools will receive critical funds for our day-to-day operations.

New executive director of Special Education hired

Zakiyyah McWilliams, an educator with more than 30 years of experience, has been hired to serve as Executive Director of Special Education. In her role, she will oversee all aspects of the Special Education department and will communicate and collaborate with families, and school and administrative staff.

Cleveland girls   Rainier Beach boys basketball   

WIAA State 3A basketball champs honored at state luncheon

WIAA State 3A basketball champions Cleveland High girls and Rainier Beach boys were honored March 15 with a luncheon in Olympia, which included a tour of the Governor's executive residence and the Capitol campus.

 

· Roosevelt senior named outstanding journalist of the year

· Ballard High dance team places 12th in state competition

· Roosevelt student accepted to national Youth Symphony Orchestra

· Works of two students to compete in national 'Reflections' contest

· Ballard High filmmakers win top awards at national festival

· McClure boys win first in team relay of indoor rowing championship

· Hamilton International students win Youth Art Month state contest

· Eckstein Middle School team wins girls basketball championship

Beacon Hill principal named Elementary School Principal of the Year 

Kelly AramakiKelly Aramaki, principal of Beacon Hill International School, was named this year's Washington state Elementary School Principal of the Year. The Association of Washington School Principals will honor Aramaki and two other principals of the year (middle and high school level winners) at the joint Washington Educators Conference in Seattle this October.
