Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce Newsletter
|
April 28, 2014
Dear Member:
Over the next four weeks, you will be hearing about the Workers' Compensation Managed Care Organization (MCO) Open Enrollment period, and will likely receive solicitations from several companies. CompManagement Health Systems (CHS) a recommended partner of the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, and is the MCO we confidently recommend to our members. Along with CompManagement, Inc., our Third Party Administrator, CHS has made a major contribution to the benefits we offer members through our group programs. Whether or not you participate in these Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce benefits, we encourage you to consider selecting CHS as your MCO.
What does an MCO do?
The most important role of an MCO is the medical management of workers' compensation claims. CHS engages all parties - injured employee, physician, and employer - to facilitate the earliest return to work that is safe for the employee. Beyond any other criteria, an MCO's value to an employer and injured employee is based in their involvement in negotiating a safe return-to-work.
Are all MCOs the same?
No. In fact, BWC evaluates the results of all MCOs in their MCO Report Card. The most important measurement is MoD (Measurement of Disability), which compares each MCO's return-to-work results to established benchmarks. Review of this data shows that CHS is a consistent high-performer.
How would selecting CHS benefit you?
Return-to-work is the most powerful variable in managing claim costs. No one returns to work until their physician allows it. Selecting an MCO that excels in engineering return-to-work helps you minimize the lost-time that drives costs. Also, CHS reduced medical bills by over 15.5% beyond BWC fee schedule for their clients in 2013.
For more information on how CHS compares to your MCO, and to select CHS during this Open Enrollment, click here.
The enrollment period runs through May 23.
If you would like to discuss your workers' compensation needs in detail,
contact Barb Lessman at 216-214-6522 or by email at [email protected].

Williams on the Lake 787 Lafayette Road Medina Are you mentally prepared for an active shooter event? Does your organization have strategies in place? Do you have the knowledge to defend yourself and those in your care? If these answers don't come to mind when you imagine yourself or a loved one in an active shooter situation, you are not alone. These terrifying instances have become a rare but deadly reality in our culture. Preparation is essential, and training is the key to survival. The ALICE Training Institute is changing how businesses schools, universities, hospitals, and places of worship respond to armed intruders. ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) is a set of proactive strategies that increase chances of survival during an armed intruder event. While no one can guarantee no causalities or injuries, we can guarantee that passing on knowledge will empower people with options of survival

Member News Shred It! The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) is hosting a FREE Community Shred Day on Saturday, May 17 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Achievement Center (4691 Windfall Road, Medina, Ohio). People from the community can bring up to four boxes or bags of their personal and confidential documents to be shredded on site. The MCBDD is partnering with Gateway Records Management (GRM) to offer this free opportunity to local community members. Shredding of outdated important documents is important. Identity theft continues to be one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States. Local law enforcement says it's one of the hardest crimes for them to investigate. If you are buried under piles of paperwork, have stacks of old files cluttering up your home office or just need a safe, secure way to get rid of unwanted documents, then stop by and drop off your boxes and bags of paperwork. A shredding truck will be on-site to immediately handle all shredding needs. For more information on the MCBDD, visit www.mcbdd.org.
The Medina County SPCA presents their annual dinner auction May 10th, 2014. Ticket and sponsorship information can be found here.
