NOVEMBER 2012

FROM THE DESK OF VALERIE RAPP, Chairperson of the Board
Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.
Actually the complete quote is, "If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude." (General Colin Powell)
That prevailing attitude is reflected in the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber's achievements and accomplishments are not based on one specific component, but on many. The strength of our community lies in its leaders and business owners and the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce plays a major role in educating, advocating, and supporting local businesses and economic development. As the outgoing chair, I extend a sincere thanks to our Chamber members, the board of directors, our ex-officios, committee chairs, and the Chamber staff for this past year's encouragement and their selfless dedication to the Chamber's mission. Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: it must be produced and discharged and used up in order to exist at all. - William Faulkner
We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. - Frederick Keonig
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. - Melody Beattie
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. - John Fitzgerald Kennedy
