Three Voting Options for March Primary

WAUKEGAN, Illinois - Today Lake County Clerk Willard Helander reminds Lake County registered voters there are three voting options for the March 18 General Primary Election. In addition to the going to the polls on the traditional Election Day, registered voters may vote early or by mail.

Early voting is available at each voter's designated location until Saturday, March 15. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early voters are required to present a current and valid government-issued photo ID. If address on identification does not match voter's registration record, further address verification is required.

Those registered voters wishing to receive a ballot by mail have several options to receive the required application form. For the fastest service, voters may visit LakeVoterPower.info and use the "Request Ballot by Mail" link to complete the new E-request form requiring no signature. Or, voters may print and mail the completed application to the County Clerk. Ballot request forms are also available by emailing VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov or calling 847.377.2406.

Illinois requires state election officials to share the email addresses of all voters using the E-request option with campaign committees and political organizations. The official ballot is not permitted to be sent electronically, but is delivered via the U.S. Postal Service. Voted ballots must be returned to the Clerk's office with a postmark no later than March 17, the day prior to Election Day.

On March 18, Election Day voting sites are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Visit LakeVoterPower.info to confirm your registration status, see your sample ballot, early voting or Election Day voting site, driving directions, and photos. Those choosing to vote by mail can use the "Track My Ballot" option to confirm their voted ballot has been received by the Clerk's office.
