Pollwatcher Credentials and Training


WAUKEGAN, Illinois - Lake County Clerk Willard Helander announced today that Pollwatcher Credentials are available to qualified political organizations needing credentials for the March 18th Primary Election.


All pollwatchers are required to have credentials issued by the Lake County Clerk or the Illinois State Board of Elections in order to observe at voting sites. Pollwatchers may represent candidates, established political parties, qualified civic organizations and organized proponents or opponents of ballot propositions.


The Clerk's office will offer training on the rights and limitations of pollwatchers on Thursday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m. in the 10th Floor Assembly Room of the Lake County Administrative Complex, 18 N. County St., Waukegan.


Requests for Pollwatcher Credentials from the clerk's office and registration for the class can be sent via email to or by calling 847.377.2314. Candidates can visit and download the Pollwatcher Guide, a helpful brochure explaining the qualifications and responsibilities of a pollwatcher.
