Grace Period Voter Registration Available

WAUKEGAN, Illinois - Grace period registration is now available to Lake County residents who need to register to vote for the March 18th Primary Election at the County Clerk's office, 18 N. County St., Waukegan. Beginning March 3rd, grace period registration will also be available at the Lake County Central Permit Facility, 500 W. Winchester Rd., Libertyville. Hours at both locations will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 and 15. Grace period registration ends at both locations on March 15.

Those who register under the grace period provision must vote at the time of registration.

Registering under grace provisions allows county residents to register for the first time or update a new address in Lake County. New registrants must be U.S. citizens, residents of their precinct for 30 days before Election Day, 18 years old on or before the November election, and are required to provide two forms of identification. Any qualified 17 year old resident who will be 18 on or before the November 4th election may register and vote in the March 18th primary.

Voter registration through deputy registrars across the county will re-open on March 20, two days after the General Primary Election in accordance with election law.
