Last Day to Register for General Primary Election

WAUKEGAN, Illinois - County Clerk Willard Helander reminds Lake County residents that Feb. 18 is the last day to register to vote with local deputy registrars for the March 18, 2014 General Primary Election.

"Residents who are new to Lake County, moved to a new address in Lake County, are 18 on or before November 4, 2014, or have changed one's name need to register by Tuesday, Feb. 18," said Helander. "Recent changes to state law allow qualified 17 year old residents who will be 18 on or before the November 4th election to register and vote in the March 18th primary," she added.

Lake County residents can visit or call 847.377.2410 to confirm registration status. New registrants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years old on or before the November election, residents of the precinct for 30 days immediately prior to Election Day, and must provide two forms of identification.

Registration is available at the County Clerk's office and at most municipal, township and library facilities. In addition, there are many trained deputy registrars available throughout the county and in every local community. To find the nearest registration location, voters may call the County Clerk's Voter Registration Department at 847.377.2410.
