E-Requests for Ballot by Mail Begin February
WAUKEGAN, Illinois - County Clerk Willard Helander advises Lake County registered voters that recent legislation changed requirements to request a ballot by mail. While Illinois law requires a separate request for ballot at each election prior to mailing a voter a ballot, voters may now complete an electronic request without signing a form. Visit LakeVoterPower.info and use the voting by mail link to complete the E-request for a ballot.
The new law also requires state election officials to share with campaign committees and political organizations the email addresses of all voters using the new E-request option. Those who do not wish to have an email address shared with political campaigns may complete, print, sign, and mail a paper form available at LakeVoterPower.info, email VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov or call 847.377.2406 for the paper form.
The official ballot is not permitted to be sent electronically, but is delivered via the U.S. Postal Service. Ballots will be mailed beginning February 6, pending final ballot certification from the Illinois State Board of Elections.
