2014 Primary Candidates May Verify Petition Information

WAUKEGAN, Illinois - The Lake County Clerk's office encourages all candidates seeking a place on the March 2014 primary ballot to take advantage of the County Clerk's free service to verify signatures on their nominating sheets. Confirming the accuracy of signatures, addresses and districts before filing can prevent objections to petitions and the possibility of a candidate being removed from the ballot.

The system is easy to use. An on-screen display allows easy reference of voter's registration status, current address, and signature. The search will also confirm a registered voter's address is within the specific district the candidate is seeking to serve.

To verify petition signers, candidates and their volunteers may reserve a computer terminal in the Clerk's office by calling Todd Govain in Voter Services at 847.377.2292. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Offices to be nominated at the March 18 General Primary Election include County Clerk, Sheriff, Treasurer, Regional Superintendent of Schools, County Board Members Districts 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 17 and 19, and North Shore Sanitary Trustees Districts 3 and 5. Precinct Committeemen for the two major political parties and The City of Lake Forest Aldermen will be elected at the General Primary Election. Nominating petitions for established political party candidates must be circulated and filed by 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013.
