Three Voting Options for April 9th Election


WAUKEGAN, Illinois - Lake County Clerk Willard Helander reminds all Lake County registered voters there are three convenient voting options for the April 9th Election. In addition to the going to the polls on the traditional Election Day, voters may vote by mail or early in person.


The County Clerk's office can mail ballots through April 4. Before an official ballot can be mailed, Illinois law requires the election official to receive a completed and signed application for each election. The online form at must be printed and signed before mailing to Lake County Clerk. Those who vote by mail can confirm their voted ballot has been received by the Clerk's office at using the "Track My Ballot" feature. Voted ballots must bear a postmark no later than April 8, the day prior to Election Day.


Registered voters may vote early until April 6, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit to find your early voting site, driving directions and photos. Early voters are required to present a valid Illinois driver's license, an Illinois identification card issued by the Secretary of State, or another valid government-issued identification document containing their photograph. Identification with an address different from registration record require additional verification set forth under 10 ILCS 5/17-10.


On Election Day, voting sites are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Entering voter specific information at will link a voter to their Election Day voting site including address, picture and driving directions.
