Pollwatcher Credentials and Training
WAUKEGAN, Illinois - Lake County Clerk Willard Helander announced today that Pollwatcher Credentials are available to qualified political organizations needing credentials for the February 26 Consolidated Primary Election.
All pollwatchers are required to have credentials issued by the Lake County Clerk in order to observe at voting sites. Pollwatchers may represent candidates, established political parties, qualified civic organizations and organized proponents or opponents of ballot propositions.
The Clerk's office will offer training on the rights and limitations of pollwatchers on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake County Clerk's office Conference Room, 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
Requests for Pollwatcher Credentials and registration for the class can be sent via email to elections@lakecountyil.gov or by calling 847.377.2314. Candidates can visit LakeCandidatePower.info and download the Pollwatcher Guide, a helpful brochure explaining the qualifications and responsibilities of a pollwatcher.
The February 26 Consolidated Primary in the cities of North Chicago and Waukegan as well as Waukegan Township is a primary for only Democratic candidates because no contested Republican candidates or nonpartisan public questions were certified for the election.
