Last Day to Register for Consolidated Primary Election
WAUKEGAN, Illinois - County Clerk Willard Helander reminds North Chicago, Waukegan, and Waukegan Township residents that January 29 is the last day to register to vote with local deputy registrars for the February 26 Consolidated Primary Election.
"New residents in North Chicago, Waukegan or the unincorporated areas of Waukegan Township, persons who moved to a new address in these areas, turn 18 on or before Election Day, or have changed one's name will need to register by Tuesday, January 29," said Helander.
Lake County residents can visit LakeVoterPower.info or call 847.377.2410 to confirm registration status.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old on or before the election, a resident of the precinct for 30 days immediately prior to Election Day, and must provide two forms of identification with one form of identification showing the current address for registration.
Registration is available at the County Clerk's office and at the municipal, township and library facilities. To find the nearest registration location, voters may call the County Clerk's Voter Registration Department at 847.377.2410. The County Clerk's office, 18 N. County St., Room 101, Waukegan, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays not proceeding a holiday weekend.
Because no contested Republican candidates or nonpartisan public questions were certified for the election, the February 26 Consolidated Primary in the cities of North Chicago and Waukegan, as well as Waukegan Township, is a primary only for Democratic candidates.
