Legislature Extends Filing Deadline for April 2013 Election
WAUKEGAN, Illinois - Governor Quinn signed Senate Bill 3338 which extends the filing deadline for nomination papers for the April 9, 2013 election to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. This change also extends the determination of the last day to file an objection, which is five business days after the last for filing nominating papers.
In local units of government closed on both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, in addition to Christmas Day and New Year's Day, the last day to file an objection will be January 4. Each local unit of government will need to calculate the last day for filing objections based on the calendar approved by their respective governing board.
