This is an advanced notice to donors that their 2013 personalized tax receipts with our end-of-year SND news and plans for 2014 will be coming to your inbox before the 31st of this month!   With postal rates increasing yet again, sending most letters via email saves us at least $900 every year!  We always think of these costs in terms of how much money it takes to help a Doberman in need  - Saves $$, Helps Dobes!! Because you made a donation in 2013, you will be receiving a personalized plain-text email from [email protected] which contains your receipt - please be sure not to delete this email. Please keep in mind that the IRS does not require special documentation for any donation made which is under $250 (any single donation, not your aggregated or total donations) - your check, PayPal email or receipt from the SND Online Store for any donations is all you need. For specific advice, please consult your accountant or tax preparer. If you have any questions, you can reply to this email or send us a message at [email protected].

Dear SND Supporter!

As we close another year of SND activities, we bring you most of the "news that's fit to print" as we end our 2013 activities! Because of your support and donations during 2013, this is what we were able to accomplish together for our Dobermans!

SND in ReviewDobermans in Texas suffered a great loss this year when one of their Champions, founder of Last Hope Doberman Rescue, succumbed to cancer in May. Francine Case lived and breathed her last breath in the hope that no Doberman would die or continue to suffer because of lack of funds. She gave her all... literally. Francine had been one of SND's Secret Santas during our December fund drives and so in her passing, she made certain that she could do this even from beyond. Francine provided a very generous bequest so that Secret Santa could continue to provide the matching grants which have provided a sweet inducement to our donors - and that it did in 2013!!

Beginning March 15th of this year, we were forced to discontinue financial assistance to private owners of Dobermans. This was a necessary step as the SND's General Funds continued to decline and the number of private requests for assistance increased dramatically. This placed an impossible burden on the SND system.  Upon careful examination of needs and resources, we determined that in order to assure that we could provide adequate assistance to Rescue Groups we must focus on assisting rescue. We will continue this policy into the future.

Assistance to Rescue GroupsAs Rescue Groups are still the most impacted by the ongoing economic conditions we all face, our plan is to support them with the dollars and energy we have at our disposal. For some, the economy has become a self-fulfilling prophecy - for Rescue, it is still their daily nightmare - how to save as many Dobermans as they can with their declining resources! Because of this situation, SND will continue to use ALL of our financial resources in support of Rescue Groups. For 2013, just over $66,000 was paid out for extraordinary veterinary expenses for Dobermans in the care of Rescues!!
Assistance to SeniorsSenior Dobermans in Rescue will remain the target of two wonderful programs. The Senior Medical Assistance Program and the Senior Doberman Project. SMAP tries to finance extraordinary medical needs and SDP lists Seniors awaiting adoption and/or seeking sponsorship. Because of the hard work of our SDP Manager, Debra McMahan, and thanks to your generous donations over 100 Seniors in the program were sponsored. That means for 2013, you provided over $13,000 for sponsorships for Senior Dobermans in Rescue! A total of 38 of those Seniors were adopted !!
Assistance to Private OwnersWe will continue to respond to private owners with information regarding financial assistance, individual fundraising, saving money on medications and disease or injury-related information as well. We will also continue to refer private owners seeking to surrender their Dobermans to the geographical Rescues in their vicinity.

Looking Forward. In 2013, because of your generosity, we were able to continue to assist Dobermans needing assistance with extraordinary medical expenses!! We hope you will continue to support Dobermans in need in 2014 as the SND team continues efforts to keep these programs in motion - we will continue with our focus on assisting Dobermans in Rescue! Remember to take a moment to visit the SND website at  www.doberman911.org

to get the latest SND news, the status of the Dobes we are helping, the Seniors in the Senior Doberman Project, the SND Store and our intermittent special eBay auctions and raffles.

THANK YOU for your support and a Happy New DobeYear 2014 to you and yours!! And, by the way, 2014 will be the year in which SND surpasses the million dollar mark in its fundraising since its inception in 2001.

For the SND Family,
