* * * SND 2012 Donation Receipt Anouncement * * *
This is an advanced notice to donors that their 2012 personalized tax receipts with our end-of-year SND news and plans for 2013 will be coming to your inbox before the 31st of this month! With postal rates increasing yet again, sending most letters via email saves us at least $800 every year! We always think of these costs in terms of how much money it takes to help a Dobe in need - Saves $$, Helps Dobes!! Because you made a donation in 2012, you will be receiving a personalized plain-text email from donations@doberman911.org which contains your receipt - please be sure not to delete this email. Please keep in mind that the IRS does not require special documentation for any donation made which is under $250 (any single donation, not your aggregated or total donations) - your check, PayPal email or receipt from the SND Online Store for any donations is all you need. For specific advice, please consult your accountant or tax preparer. If you have any questions, you can reply to this email or send us a message at donations@doberman911.org.

Dear SND Supporter!
As SND begins another year, we present most of the "news that's fit to print" as we close our 2012 activities! |
|
SND in Review. In 2012, the economic downturn continued to hamper our efforts to provide financial assistance for extraordinary medical expenses for Dobermans in need. Our treasury sank to dangerously low levels until our December donations were augmented by very generous Secret Santas who matched donations to the tune of $6K!! We ended the year with donations totaling $71,400 but at the end of this campaign, we were still over $5K shy of 2011's reduced income level - another reduction in terms of potential assistance! If you donated during the year, during our Make Santa Pay or the raffle - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
With our year end carryover from 2011 and our income from 2012, we were able to disburse almost $66K in 2012 and we hope to at least maintain this trend for 2013. Year-end donations are very gratifying but it does make planning a bit more challenging when roughly 25% of the year's total is just a projection. The economic realities we all face tell the tale.
As we complete our eleventh full year of operation, our programs continue to assist the ever expanding number of Dobes in need. With the economy affecting more and more people, the financial needs of Rescue groups and of privately owned Dobes also continues to grow. We must tighten our fiscal belts to reflect the financial realities we are all facing while trying to apply our resources to the most severely impacted - the Rescue Groups. In short, here's how we propose to do this. |
Assistance to Rescue Groups. As Rescue Groups are the most impacted by the current fiscal landscape, our plan is to support them with the dollars and energy we have at our disposal. For some, the economy has become a self-fulfilling prophecy - for Rescue, it is their daily nightmare! How to save as many as they can! Because of this situation, SND will shift most ALL of our resources in support of Rescue Groups. |
Assistance to Seniors. Senior Dobermans in Rescue will remain the target of two wonderful programs. The Senior Medical Assistance Program and the Senior Doberman Project. SMAP tries to finance extraordinary medical needs and SDP lists Seniors awaiting adoption and/or sponsorship. Because of the hard work of our SDP Manager, Debra McMahan, many Senior have been adopted or sponsored thanks to your generous donations! |
Assistance to Private Owners. Because the fundraising landscape for individuals has dramatically changed for private individuals given the social media now available, we will turn over the responsibility for fundraising to them. With organizations like www.chipin.com and others, many applicants have raised even more than they needed. We are shifting the burden to individuals as many people are likely to help a name and face more than an organization that is always seeking donations for a myriad number of cases with which they may not be able to identify. We will be adding a page to the SND website which will outline resources and tips for private owners to launch their own fundraising efforts - the rewards can be as fulfilling as the effort applied - we've seen it work!! |
|
Looking Forward. In 2012, because of your help, we were able to continue to assist Dobes needing assistance with extraordinary medical expenses!! We hope you will continue to support Dobermans in need in 2013 as the SND team continues efforts to keep these programs in motion - we will continue with our emphasis on assisting rescue! Remember to take a moment to visit the SND website at www.doberman911.org to get the latest SND news, the status of the Dobes we are helping, the Seniors in the Senior Doberman Project and our intermittent special eBay auctions.
THANK YOU for your support and a Happy New DobeYear 2013 to you and yours!!
