Dear Michigan Alpha Brother:
The Michigan Alpha Alumni Association invites you to attend two events this fall that provide an opportunity to visit the chapter house, reconnect with fellow alums and meet members of the active chapter.
The Michigan Alpha active chapter leadership has invited the Alumni Association and all alums to join them for a BBQ the day of the Michigan vs Notre Dame game which will celebrate Tom Harmon '41 being honored as a "Michigan Football Legend." Harmon will be the fourth Michigan Alpha man to receive this elite honor from the U of M Athletic Department (the Wistert brothers were the first three).
The Harmon BBQ will be held at the chapter house on September 7, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature tailgate food and beverages plus a brief speaking program to commemorate Tom Harmon's distinguished accomplishments at U of M and throughout his life.
In addition, the active chapter president will provide insight on the state of the fraternity and plans for the year. The first winner of the newly established Harmon-Chappuis-Lund Award for the top intramural athlete in the active chapter will also be named (it is worth noting that PDT won the 2012-13 IM All-Sports Championship for the Fraternity League).
We'll have burgers, dogs and Italian sausage with other traditional tailgate favorites along with beverages (remember, the chapter house and yard are alcohol-free).
A donation of $15 per person is encouraged if you're going to eat during your visit. If you plan to attend for lunch, please RSVP to pdtumich@gmail.com.
The second event will be the 2013 Homecoming Open House prior to the Michigan vs Minnesota football game on October 5. The chapter house will be open for alums to visit from 10 a.m. to noon. Light breakfast food and beverages will be served, but there may not be a formal program.
As always on football Saturdays, alums are welcome to view the house while it is open (it is locked during and after football games) and park their vehicles on the front lawn for the afternoon.
If you haven't visited in long time, we think you'll be impressed with the condition of our historic chapter house -- now 110 years old -- and the quality of the active chapter members.
As always, we welcome your suggestions and comments about the fraternity. We look forward to seeing you in A2.
Yours in the Bond,
Michigan Alpha Alumni Association
