Dear Friends,

I arrived home on Sunday evening after a very full time of personal retreat and renewal. I am grateful for all who step-in and step-up allowing me to take this needed time away. Whenever I teach and regardless of the topic (especially to seminarians) I always throw in a couple of essentials for ministry. One point that always makes it in is... You cannot give away what you do not have. That is to say if I want people to be growing in their relationship with Christ, devoted to prayer, study and worship then I need to be a person living that kind of life. It is an everyday piety but also I need time away focused on knowing Jesus, listening to His voice and resting in His presence. It is good for you that I go away because in doing so I return invigorated, inspired, expectant and hopeful in the next steps we take together as Incarnation.

You might not be able to get away for a week long retreat but all of us need to find time like Mary to sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His voice. (Luke 10:38-42). So as priets and pastor I implore you... Find the time to be with Jesus. It is essential to your spiritual health, come to Canterbury and take a walk around the lake, find a place to be still and know that He is God!

We have a desperate need for volunteers in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
We need people who are willing to be in the atriums on Sunday mornings to help and assist the Catechist. It is getting critical, simply to give us the needed coverage to operate this ministry, we are stretched too thin. It is a rich and rewarding ministry and I am praying several folks will hear a "calling" in this plea.
