Dear Friends,
We had a full week of ministry, new initiatives and more. A highlight for me was having David and Rita Baroni as our guests. They helped us launch the Saturday evening 5pm service of Vespers and Holy Eucharist. It was a rich moment of worship and I believe will become a significant offering in the days ahead. I encourage you carve out 5-6pm on a Saturday and join in / sample this moment of fellowship with Almighty God and one another. I commend the ministry of David and Rita to you as well. Spending time in with David's music, their books will enrich your spiritual life. (check out www.davidbaroni.com )
I am writing this on Sunday late afternoon and in a couple hours we will have the Alpha Banquet and the Alpha Course will start in earnest next Sunday, September 22nd @ 9am in the main building with a light breakfast, a short video and discussion for youth and adults. It is an opportunity to look at the foundations or essentials of the Christian Faith. Come and join the journey of discovering the richness of knowing God.
The class at the Oviedo YMCA begins this week (see below) and I encourage you to come but more so to support it with prayer as we reach out to the community.
Compass Youth Group is moving to Sunday evenings 6:30-8pm starting on September 22. Confirmation Classes kick-off on Sunday, September 29th / 12-3pm with a lunch following the 10:15am service. Check the links for more details and a few other things that are starting up (Home Groups / Discipleship / etc.) In all this we have an opportunity to grow. I pray we grow deep into Christ Jesus, for there we will find peace, hope, love and most of all life! A life anchored in Jesus is the way we are to live day by day, moment to moment. In this world we can lose our bearings, we get tossed to and fro, we struggle, we get weary. This is all some people know. They are surviving and holding on by a thread. I learned in a song by Billy Sprague an old French Proverb... O la vie est dure, Mais Dieu est bon si bon Translated it means, Life is Hard, but God is good. The world knows the first phrase all too well. Our task is to proclaim the second phrase that God is good and we do this with our lives. As a Christian we are not necessarily insulated from difficulty but rather in the midst of a trial or storm we have a way through, carried by the love of God in Christ. Our calling is to share the Good News of Jesus with people so they can find refuge, strength, hope and ultimately eternal life. Let Jesus fill you and use you, this is how we experience the joy of the Kingdom of God... in the Mission, Fr.
