The Collect / Proper 14
Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. AMEN.

Dear Friends,
There are a lot of folks who receive this update beyond our congregation. Folks that cheer us on, pray for us and are interested in our ministry. Dean Rick Lobs and his wife Deacon Donna Lobs are in that category. I had an email exchange last week with Donna and this thought emerged in our virtual conversation and I think it is significant as we pray about our ministry expanding in this community.
We talked about the need for a right relationship with God through faith and repentance. We start there, aligned and reconciled to God. Out of that restored relationship we are able to reach out in love to others. Think of it this way, the relationship with God is vertical and our relationship with others is horizontal. That image makes a cross. We have a constant reminder everywhere but especially on this sacred space called Canterbury in the beautiful white cross that adorns the lake.
As we seek to expand our ministry, to reach out in love with fellowship, worship, classes, programs, The Alpha Course, special services and more let us be reminded by the cross, to be grounded in God, growing in our knowledge and love of the Lord and empowered by the Holy Spirit to share that love and bear the Gospel of Jesus to this community and beyond. Pray that our lives, our ministry, our very DNA be found in the cross.
May His Kingdom come and will be done...
in the mission,
Fr. Jon+

The Altar Guild needs three new people to serve in the preparation for Eucharist worship and to clean up afterwards. We like to have four teams, one for each Sunday of the month, so that it is only once a month that you serve. The tasks are simple: we put things out, we put things away and we wash up afterward and we clean and iron the linens. We have a book that reminds us of what we have to do and Deacon Dick provides lots of hands on training. All that the Guild does is steeped in tradition, history and becomes a very fulfilling and sacred duty.

After which we will undertake some chores to benefit Canterbury, exercise our weary bodies and work off the breakfast - all the while enjoying one another's company.
