Dear Friends,
Another great day at Incarnation! We celebrate with Deacon Dave and his wife Jill their 50th wedding anniversary as they renewed their wedding vows.
We are changing the date for our vestry meeting to the SECOND TUESDAY evening of each month. So our next meeting will be July 9th, 6:30pm at Canterbury. I am grateful for our vestry leadership and how we are working to see our ministry grow. One thing we began discussing at the last meeting was the possibility of adding a Saturday Evening Service. A member of the church asked us to consider this and there are several reasons why this may make sense. There are a number of folks because of athletic commitments of children have a conflict with Sunday mornings. It would give flexibility to those who work weekends. I know that whenever you initiate a new ministry you typically reach a new segment of the population. We are gathering feedback. Please email me jon@icarnationoviedo.com or our Senior Warden, Tommy Hagood if you have thoughts either way about this possibility.
Please keep James Morical in your prayers. He leaves Tuesday, July 2nd for about three weeks of a short term mission in Honduras. Check out his mission adventure... CLICK HERE
As we walk this week we will celebrate Independence Day on Thursday. Here is the collect for that day. (you might can pause between the BBQ and the fireworks to offer this prayer)
Lord God Almighty, in whose Name the founders of this country won liberty for themselves and for us, and lit the torch of freedom for nations then unborn: Grant that we and all the people of this land may have grace to maintain our liberties in righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. We were also reminded by Mike Beates at the Men's breakfast on Saturday that this week will mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. I found this website that might be informative... http://www.gettysburgcivilwar150.com
In these moments let us pause and consider, give thanks and reflect on our nation's history, the painful price of freedom and the blessing it is to live here. We sang this on Sunday as one of our hymns - a little different version by Ray Charles, hope you enjoy it...
