The Collect / Proper 4 The Sunday closest to June 1.
O God, your never-failing providence sets in order all things both in heaven and earth: Put away from us, we entreat you, all hurtful things, and give us those things which are profitable for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. AMEN.

Dear Friends,
What a rich and full weekend celebrating Canterbury's 30th anniversary. We enjoyed the music ministry of At The Crossroads on Saturday night and Sunday morning. You can check them out on Facebook (click here) and even purchase their music on CD Baby (click here).
As we have walked in this "partnership" for the last three and a half years, we have seen Canterbury move from the brink of failure and closing to a place where it is growing and fulfilling its calling as a sacred space for the Kingdom of God. We took this on as a church and did so at some cost as we deployed resources and assets into this effort. Another way to understand this, Canterbury became Incarnation's mission over the last three years. This was risky, controversial to some and we can say now that this unique model of both Incarnation and Canterbury together is working and bearing fruit.
The mission continues and as the person charged for leading both Canterbury and Incarnation I sense a new season upon us. For Incarnation, we have been shifting over the last few months to taking our mission into the community. In the days ahead we will have opportunities to engage neighborhoods and individuals. Pastor Robin and I attended a meeting at the local YMCA as they are seeking to be faithful (as they put it) to the "C" (Young Men's Christian Association) and not just be thought of as a "health club". We may have opportunities to offer classes at the local YMCA, like; Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, The Alpha Course; individually tailored courses on family, parenting, and more.
In all this I ask you to join in prayer as we discern how we are to take the Good News of Christ into the world and specifically this community we call home. If you are given inspiration, an idea of what we might do, please share it with Pastor Robin or me or the vestry.
Three more things...
See the announcement below regarding Jose's ordination this coming Saturday, June 8 and make plans to join in the joyful event.
Hannah Nelson leaves this Friday on a Summer Mission with King's Kids to New Mexico to do outreach and construction projects on a Native-American Reservation. Please keep her in your prayers.
Finally, Dr. Carla Waterman is holding a special one day retreat on June 13th - information is in the left column. I commend this to you as a place to deepen your faith and grow in grace. I know this about life, I must take time to be still, to reflect and listen for in doing so my faith, prayers, passion is fueled to serve Christ all the more. Take advantage of this moment awaiting you...
in the mission,
Fr. Jon
