Dear Friends,
A wonderful, marvelous, uplifting, inspiring Pentecost Sunday at Incarnation yesterday. (you can listen to Bishop Howe's sermon -
Click Here). Thanks to David Teems, Orman Kimbrough, and the whole music team for indulging my bluegrass sensibilities. The Pentecost Picnic with the saints from Waterstone Fellowship was joyful and fun. In all these moments I pray that God is empowering us with the Holy Spirit to be witnesses for Jesus and to carry the Gospel into the community with faith, hope and love.
We enter our summer worship schedule with one service at 10:15am. The 8am service will start back on September 8th.
regular Christian Formation classes (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Pastor's Class, etc) are on summer break as well.
Over the next few weeks there is a lot going on.
The following week Friday, May 24th / 7pm
we have a Canterbury Coffee House with True Gain Band (our own Bob Grosso's music ministry!)
Following is the Canterbury Weekend. There are opportunities to join in the fellowship as well as opportunities to serve. You can buy dinner tickets for $30.00 contact Lydia Pierce -
clpierce1106@earthlink.net We do need some volunteers to help work the dinner (servers, prep, clean-up etc.) We also need folks to help with flower arrangements. If you want to volunteer contact Susan Gregory
sgregory@canterburyretreat.org More information about the Canterbury Weekend is in the left hand column.
On June 13th there is a great opportunity for a personal retreat with Dr. Carla Waterman (see the announcement in the column on the left)
A lot of these moments are prime opportunities to invite friends and neighbors into the church community.
One more thing...
We can often get busy with things, programs, events. We live in a fast paced world with so many things competing for our time and attention. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. In all the activity, in these moments of fun and celebration, we must remember to sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His voice. He will speak to us at Coffee House Concerts, BBQs and picnics, formal banquets, through retreats, classes, worship and sermons. So show up, attend these moments and also find time to be still. I believe God is speaking to us a lot more than we know; the question is are we listening...
in the Mission,
Fr. Jon+
