The Collect for Christ the King Sunday / Proper 29
Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore all things in your well-beloved Son, the King of kings and Lord of lords: Mercifully grant that the peoples of the earth, divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his most gracious rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Dear Friends, What a glorious celebration of Christ the King and Holy Baptism as we welcomed Elijah Thomas Rodriguez into the church. These moments are very special for families and for us as a congregation. I mentioned in my sermon a clip from the classic comedy Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail. My point; it is hard for us in our western, democracy mindset to understand the concept of "king". It is a quite silly clip, watch it if you dare :-) | | Dennis The Constitutional Peasant |
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Advent begins Sunday, December 2nd and we will enter a new church year. This will mean some changes - we will shift to Rite I on Sunday mornings. From a worship stand point these moments shake us up a bit and make us pay attention that something is different. We begin an Advent Journey preparation, expectation, and it should stir in us a longing to for the coming of Christ. We do this as we ponder his second coming and the consummation of the Kingdom of God while we also are making ready to celebrate His first coming at His Incarnation. Advent is a rich season with much to consider and I hope you will take time to enjoy every step of this part of our journey of faith. This Sunday (December 2nd) we have a group at Canterbury that requires us to give up our space in the main building so Sunday at 9am we will gather by the chapel on the patio for a breakfast provided by Compass Youth Group and an Advent Wreath Workshop. We will be doing the Advent Wreath workshop differently from previous years. We are gathering the greens from some Christmas Tree vendors; providing a unique base - come and see, I bet you will love it - and using up the candles we have left over from last year. (we may run out of candles) Regardless it will be a lot of fun and a great time to enter Advent with joy. Donations will be appreciated and proceeds will go to the Compass Youth Group Retreat Fund. Brett Spencer is coordinating this endeavor and I am sure he could use some help. If you want to volunteer you can contact Brett at... balanspencer@gmail.com or his cell phone at... 407-927-0025. There is a lot happening in our life in the weeks ahead (see below) and I hope you will take time to join in the fun. May we all grow in our knowledge of Christ our King... in the mission,
