Greetings!

Panda Silk Fall will be here in a few short days.  Are you ready?  There are lots of Crystal Palace patterns this month to inspire those autumn projects.  Choose a Panda Silk shawl for the "Wrap it Up" Knit and Crochet-Along hosted on Ravelry, or work up an Estonian Rib Hat in Mini Mochi to get ready for the cold months ahead.  There are great independent designer patterns as well.

Enjoy the season!

Sincerely,
Cathy Campbell

FREE Knit Patterns:
Shawls & Estonian Rib by Gail Tanquary

We have added several new free knit patterns online.  These new patterns include two shawls, a hat and a headband, all designed by Gail Tanquary.

Panda Silk Fan Shawl Shawls continue to be popular project choices for knitters. The Fan Shawl was designed in wonderful Panda Silk. This beautiful shawl features fan-shaped modules with eyelets. It can be worn as a shawl or as a triangular scarf. Panda Silk has excellent drape and is silky soft to wear.  This pattern has over 500 Favorites on Ravlery since we posted it a week ago.  This project takes just three 50-gram balls to make.

Wailea Shawl
Dream of Maui island breezes while wearing the elegant Wailea Shawl, also designed in Panda Silk.  It is light and lacy, a great cover up for spring, summer or fall.  It features eyelet-accented rows at the top and lace pattern at the bottom.  The soft, drapy bamboo, merino and silk fiber blend makes it incredibly wearable.  It also only takes three balls to make.  Choose from over 40 shades, including both solids and prints, like 5140 "Blue Lagoon" shown in the pattern sample.

Estonian Rib Hat The Estonian Rib Hat is a very fun design.  The Estonian Rib pattern pops with the high-contrast combination of Mini Solid and slow-striping Mini Mochi. Estonian Rib mimics the effect of entrelac without all the work. The bottom edge is folded and sewn on the inside of the hat for a sturdy rim.   Try a combination with the new Fall colors.  New Mini Mochi colors are in shops now, and new Mini Solid colors will arrive in October.

Estonian Rib Headband The Estonian Rib Headband is great for a small project.  It features the same faux-entrelac stitch pattern as the Estonian Rib Hat, this time using a combination of Sausalito and Mini Solid.  You can use Mini Mochi instead of Sausalito if you would like.  This works up quickly, making it a great gift idea.

New FREE Crochet Pattern:
Spider Lattice Stole in Cotton Twirl

Cotton Twirl Stole
The Spider Lattice Stole is a new crochet pattern available on our website, just in time for the "Wrap it Up" KAL/CAL.

This lacy stole works up quickly in Cotton TwirlThe project features a web-like lattice design that is repeated over 8 rows. It is the same lace pattern that was featured in last month's Spider Lattice Scarf in Panda Silk.  This is such a fun project to work up.  The springiness of the yarn adds extra comfort to this stylish wrap.  It takes five balls to make.

Indie Knit News:
Diane L. Augustin Designs with CPY
Gold Rush cape
Diane L. Augustin has recently published two new patterns on Ravelry in Crystal Palace Yarns.

First is the sparkly fun Everybody's Poncho, made in the new 1010 "Mermaid" shade of Gold Rush. It works up quickly and easily on size 11 circular needles.  It is called "Everybody's" because the designer says that it has looked great on everyone who has tried on her sample.  It features a basic feather-and-fan design, which is always a great, easy lace option.  It takes four balls of Gold Rush to knit.  It would look very nice over a simple dress for winter parties.

Spiral Stars Cowl Second is the delightful Spiral Stars Cowl.  This dainty cowl is knit in Panda Silk, shown in the popular color 5140 "Blue Lagoon".  The design features a slanting, twisted rib.  It is a long cowl that can be worn full length or doubled closer to the neck.  The pattern has an option to add beads for embellishment.  It takes only two balls to make.

Indie Crochet News:
Panda Silk Vest in Crochet!

Ice Crystal Vest
Crystal Palace Panda Silk is featured in one of the lovely patterns in the upcoming Winter issue of  Crochet! Magazine

Panda Silk is a wonderful yarn for crochet.  Its light weight and bamboo, merino wool and silk fiber blend give it incredible drape. The Ice Crystal Vest, designed by Shannon Mullett-Bowlsby, is exquisite in Panda Silk.
The body is done in basic crochet stitching with lovely lacy accented panels down the fronts and back.  It is a great tunic-style vest that can really dress up a pair of jeans.  It takes 8-12 balls to make.

Crochet! Winter 2014 coverThe digital version of this issue of Crochet! Magazine is available now online.  The print version will be available in shops starting on October 14, 2014.
